What the program is

UTSC's Management program is a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration. You enter a Specialist program, where more than half of your credits are in Management. UTSC says the program gives broad business knowledge and asks you to apply the latest theories to real problems.

The UTSC calendar says the department puts special emphasis on its co-op model. UTSC admits 500 students each year to the Specialist and Specialist (Co-op) programs, and most come straight from high school. A small number join at the end of first year.

Course requirements

You need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with at least six Grade 12 U or M courses. Three are required: English, Advanced Functions, and Calculus and Vectors. UTSC asks for at least 70% in English. Grade 12 co-op credits do not count for admission.

UTSC needs Calculus, while UTM Management only recommends it. If you are applying to both, plan for MCV4U. Our course planner can help you fit it into Grade 12.

The average you need

UTSC lists approximate grade requirements of mid-80s overall for regular Management and mid to high 80s overall for co-op. UTSC calls these approximate, so they are a guide rather than a promise. UTSC does not publish an admitted average or an acceptance rate for Management.

Your SAF is read with your grades, so marks alone do not decide it. Still, an average in the mid-80s is the starting point. Check your number with our Top 6 average calculator.

The Supplementary Application Form

Management (regular and co-op) requires UTSC's Supplementary Application Form, or SAF. UTSC calls it a written form where you tell them about yourself, your lived experience and the activities you want to highlight. It wants to hear what you have learned, not a list of clubs. UTSC says an interview may follow the SAF.

You get the SAF through your Join U of T account. It opens in late October each year. Your deadline depends on when you apply, and it appears in the portal about 2 to 4 weeks after you apply. UTSC's program page lists a document deadline of February 1, 2027. If you are required to submit the SAF and don't, you will not be eligible for the program.

You can save drafts, but once you submit, you can't make changes. The sooner UTSC gets your SAF after it opens, the earlier you are considered. If you miss your date, UTSC asks you to send it as soon as possible and says it may still consider it, depending on space.

UTSC's rule on outside help

UTSC states: "Unauthorized help is not allowed and constitutes misrepresentation." It lists three examples: "Use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT", "Submitting work that is not your own" and "Having someone else complete the form". It also says the SAF must be completed only by the applicant.

In plain terms, your SAF answers have to be yours alone. That is why Stellar Advisers does not write, edit or coach SAF answers. We can help with the parts UTSC does not cover by that rule, such as course planning, deadlines and your list of schools.

First year and staying in the program

Students admitted from high school take set first-year courses in microeconomics and macroeconomics, calculus for management, financial accounting I and II, human resource management, marketing and management communications.

In the regular Specialist, you must keep a CGPA of 2.0 or higher after 4.0 credits, or you are removed from the program. In co-op, a CGPA below 2.5 means probation, below 2.3 means removal from co-op, and below 2.0 means removal from all BBA programs.

Co-op

Co-op students take the same courses as non-co-op students, plus 2 co-op preparation courses. The calendar says Management co-op runs on a trimester schedule with eight four-month study terms and three four-month work terms, and you finish on a study term. UTSC's program page describes 2 or 3 full work terms, or 8 or 12 months. Confirm the number with the co-op office.

UTSC says co-op students can finish in the same number of years as non-co-op students. Co-op fees in first year are listed at $1,010 to $3,032. Employers named on the program page include Ontario Power Generation, Scotiabank and Metrolinx. The separate Management and International Business co-op program also needs the SAF and requires an interview.

Tuition for 2026-27

Schedule 2 of U of T's 2026-27 fee report shows first-year Ontario students in Commerce, Business Administration and Management paying the general Arts and Science fee of $6,220. The upper-year Commerce/Business Administration fee for Ontario students is $16,210 in 2026-27. Upper-year fees for students who start in 2027 will be set later.

UTSC's own first-year estimate for Ontario students is $10,220 to $11,220 for tuition, supplies, student fees and health insurance. It warns that years 2, 3 and 4 cost more for Management. Housing and a meal plan add $15,750 to $23,770 if you live on campus.

Scholarships

U of T has about 900 University of Toronto Scholars awards worth $10,000 each. Strong secondary school students are considered automatically based on their admission average. The award is for first year and does not renew. See our U of T financial aid guide.

For parents

Two things decide this application: a mid-80s average with the three required courses, and the SAF. The SAF must be your child's own work. UTSC treats outside help, including AI, as misrepresentation. You can still help with the logistics, such as watching for the Join U of T message and the deadline.

Plan the budget for upper years, not just first year. The upper-year Business Administration fee is more than double the first-year fee in U of T's 2026-27 schedule.
