Understand what you're applying to
Engineering Science is a first-year admission choice at St. George. It isn't a graduate program or an undeclared version of the Core 8. Its early curriculum combines engineering with deeper science and mathematics. You should compare that structure with a direct discipline such as Mechanical or Computer Engineering before ranking choices. A familiar university name doesn't tell you which first-year experience you'll receive.
The current program page describes two foundation years and nine upper-year majors. These include Aerospace Engineering, Machine Intelligence, Robotics and Electrical & Computer Engineering. You apply to Engineering Science first. You aren't making a separate high school application to its Robotics major. A later major's name shouldn't hide the breadth of the foundation you must complete before reaching it.
Read the general U of T Engineering pathway for the faculty-wide application process. This page owns the narrower EngSci decision: its preparation, foundation years and later specialization. Keep the broad pathway alongside your shortlist, especially if you're comparing EngSci with several Core programs. Check current program availability before you submit; an older menu can contain choices absent from the intake you want.

Audit all five prerequisite marks
Ontario applicants need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and six Grade 12 U/M courses. U means university preparation; M means university/college preparation. The named required courses are English ENG4U, Advanced Functions MHF4U, Calculus and Vectors MCV4U, Chemistry SCH4U and Physics SPH4U. Each needs at least 70% for consideration. A strong sixth course doesn't remove any of those five requirements.
The faculty calculates its admission average from the five required courses. That's different from a standard top-six calculation. Use your transcript to make two separate records: one showing that you have six eligible courses, and another showing the five marks used for Engineering review. Our Top 6 calculator can support other university comparisons. But its result isn't your Engineering Science admission average.
U of T also examines your wider school record and each Grade 11 and 12 result. Its FAQ says it uses Grade 11 results where Grade 12 marks aren't yet available. It normally considers first attempts at repeated courses. If serious circumstances affected a mark, follow its special-consideration process and provide the requested evidence. Don't assume a retake simply erases the original result.

Read the published range in its own terms
The Engineering FAQ groups EngSci with Electrical and Computer Engineering under Low to Mid 90's. It explains that admission consideration began in those ranges in recent years. That is the school's label and time frame. It doesn't identify a single cohort year, a lowest admitted student or a guaranteed 2027 cutoff. The range was read on October 13, 2026.
The 70% course floor and the recent-years range answer different questions. The first describes basic eligibility in each required course. The second gives context for competition among Canadian high school applications. Neither answers your personal chance of admission. The committee also reviews the supplement and course-level results. Don't turn the lower edge of a broad range into a promise that every complete file above it succeeds.
For a realistic plan, compare your own five-course record with that published context. Keep other engineering choices you would be willing to attend. A result below the range deserves a careful conversation about alternatives, not an invented probability. Recheck the faculty FAQ on November 1, 2026 for any intake-specific update. If the school publishes a new measure, use its exact year and label.

Complete the profile without losing your own voice
The Engineering Supplemental Application is required. Paying and submitting the Ontario Universities' Application Centre application, called OUAC, doesn't finish it. Once the faculty sends access, complete the Engineering Applicant Portal tasks. The supplement includes your academic timeline, course information, activities and program preferences. U of T asks you to rank at least two and up to four Engineering programs for consideration.
The current Personal Profile uses three timed video responses. The faculty is interested in reasoning and communication. Use its tutorial and practice tools to understand the equipment and format. Its FAQ says no one else may be present in person or virtually during the assessment. Other applications or devices aren't permitted. You must complete the assessed responses entirely yourself.
Activities don't have to be engineering projects. The faculty accepts examples such as employment, community involvement, arts or athletics. Describe what actually happened and name an appropriate supervisor who can verify your involvement if asked. Reference letters aren't required, but activity references are. Review the Engineering profile guide for process details. Never send invented roles or achievements to strengthen an application.

Put the 2027 checkpoints on your calendar
The central U of T table explicitly lists January 15, 2027 for Engineering applications and the Online Student Profile. Engineering documents share that January 15 checkpoint. For early consideration, the faculty recommends the OUAC application by November 7 and the supplement plus available documents by December 1. Those fall checkpoints belong to 2026 in the Fall 2027 application cycle.
Apply with time to receive portal access. The faculty says an OUAC application can take up to a week to reach it. That makes a last-day application a poor way to manage a profile due on the same day. Save the submission confirmation, then check which documents are still outstanding. A file can need additional evidence even after your school has sent marks.
Ontario applications are considered in February, March and May. An early complete file may still be held for later information. Out-of-province and international timing follows different instructions. The deadline page gives early complete files a response by April 30, without promising an offer. Compare the Ontario university deadline guide with the faculty dates, and follow the conditions and response date on any offer you receive.

Map another curriculum before calculating an average
Canadian applicants outside Ontario use the faculty's province-specific equivalents. For example, Alberta lists Mathematics 30-1, Mathematics 31, Chemistry 30, Physics 30 and English Language Arts 30-1. British Columbia lists pre-calculus, calculus, chemistry, physics and senior English. These are Engineering requirements, so don't replace them with a less specific university-wide course list intended for another faculty.
The international review follows the curriculum you study, regardless of citizenship. The International Baccalaureate (IB) floor is 30 predicted points, excluding bonus points. Each required subject needs at least 4. For the International Baccalaureate, the faculty lists English, chemistry, physics and an accepted mathematics course. Its math options include Analysis and Approaches at Higher or Standard Level, and Applications and Interpretations at Higher Level. The Standard Level Applications course isn't on that list. Check the full diploma and subject-mark instructions before treating an overall IB total as sufficient.
A Level applicants need at least three Advanced Level subjects, including mathematics and physics. Chemistry at Advanced or AS Level is strongly recommended, with an Ordinary Level chemistry requirement if it isn't taken higher. The faculty recommends B or better and excludes a C or lower in a required course. Your transcript history and English facility also matter. Ask Engineering about mixed curricula rather than converting international marks into Ontario percentages yourself.

Use the foundation curriculum to check fit
First-year EngSci includes calculus, classical mechanics, computing and design. The program lists Engineering Mathematics and Computation, Introduction to Computer Programming and the Praxis sequence. Its winter list adds algorithms and data structures, linear algebra, electric circuits, and molecules and materials. These subjects give you a concrete preview of the work. An interest in one later major won't remove the other foundations.
The program describes an accelerated pace and an emphasis on theory and research. Ask yourself which school assignments you enjoy: explaining why a model works, testing assumptions or applying a known method to a practical device. Both kinds of work can lead to engineering. The choice here is about the required courses you're willing to study, not a contest over which route sounds more prestigious.
EngSci's design courses involve teamwork and communication with community partners. Its published opportunities include summer research and a supervised fourth-year thesis. These are reasons to investigate the program further, not guarantees of a particular supervisor or placement. For PEY Co-op, compare the optional work-term structure and degree timing with your other offers. Access to career support doesn't mean an employer must hire you.

Budget with dated figures and finish the next task
For international entrants, the approved 2026-27 figure is $72,860. The report also lists $75,770 for 2027-28 under INFO. It calls this a planned fee for information only, so it is not a confirmed bill.

Fall 2027 tuition wasn't confirmed in the checked report. The 2026-27 tuition report's Schedule 2 says it will apply in Fall 2026 and Winter 2027. It lists Engineering tuition of $14,460 for Ontario residents and $17,730 for other Canadian residents. These are tuition figures, excluding other costs. The faculty finance page still labels its lower table 2025-2026. It isn't a new-cycle quote.
Faculty admission scholarships use academic results and the activities you report. Some university-wide awards require another application. Use the U of T financial aid guide and St. George residence information to build a separate funding and housing plan. Don't count a scholarship or future co-op wage as money already awarded to you.
Some direct faculty requests were blocked, but their official bodies were read through web fetch. The source records retain both results. Your next useful step is a course audit with your guidance counsellor. Confirm the five subjects and sixth course, then check that you can finish each required course. Choose other Engineering preferences from curricula you would accept. Set a profile completion date before the official deadline. Recheck unpublished 2027 fees and the yearless grade range on November 1, 2026 and again before committing to an offer.
