Select a forensic route from its science
UTM's Forensic Sciences category has several later directions. The current category page describes Forensic Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and the Forensic Science double major. These paths use different methods. Chemistry examines substances and their analysis, while Anthropology examines remains and context. Psychology studies behaviour and evidence about people. Choose from the kind of scientific work you want to study, not only from the appeal of a television crime scene.
The double major combines general forensic study with an approved second science major. Each specialist goes deeper into one named area. Your high school application is to category TMK, rather than a guarantee of admission to every later specialist. You must apply again after starting university. The calendar sets those program rules. Make this distinction part of your comparison with degrees that admit directly to a named major.
You may select one UTM category when applying. Read the forensic program list before deciding whether it fits better than ordinary Psychology or another science category. The UTM Psychology guide explains the separate regular Psychology route. The University of Toronto hub gives the wider campus context. Similar program names don't mean the same degree structure or entry conditions.

Check the Chemistry difference before choosing subjects
The general Forensic Science admissions page lists English ENG4U, Advanced Functions MHF4U, Biology SBI4U and Chemistry SCH4U. It recommends Calculus and Physics. You need the Ontario diploma and six Grade 12 U/M courses in total. U means university preparation and M means university/college preparation. Don't substitute a general interest in science for the actual senior subjects required by the published route.
The institute's 2026-27 brochure separates the paths. It lists Biology and Advanced Functions for Forensic Anthropology and Forensic Psychology. It adds Chemistry for Forensic Biology, Forensic Chemistry and the double major. That differs from the general admissions list. Both are official sources. We cannot call Chemistry optional for every path. Nor can we say every specialist has the same course list.
Ask UTM to confirm the preparation needed for your intended path before dropping Chemistry. Keeping it can preserve more of the listed options. This is advice for your course plan. It is not a new entry rule. The same brochure strongly recommends Calculus and Physics for success in the Biology and Chemistry specialists. A recommended subject is not a published course minimum. Read its role alongside the later first-year course map.

Use minimum marks and the competitive range separately
UTM's current general minimum is 75% overall and 70% senior English. For Ontario, the overall calculation uses ENG4U plus the best five eligible Grade 12 U/M courses. The checked pages don't supply a separate numeric floor for each school science or maths subject here. Don't assign the English floor to Biology or Chemistry simply to fill a comparison table.
The Forensic Science program page gives Mid to High 70s under Competitive Average. It doesn't attach the range to an entry year. We keep it as latest available, read October 13, 2026. UTM says that offers depend on competition and space. The general floor does not promise a Fall 2027 offer. Nor does the published grade range. These figures are not an acceptance rate.
Our Top 6 calculator can help you review your school marks. First confirm the courses and English result used in your planning record. If you meet the minimum, continue checking the science preparation and document tasks. If you don't, discuss your course plan with a counsellor and compare alternatives. Recheck yearless grade guidance on November 1, 2026. Keep any new figure under its own published label.

Complete the high school application by January 15
The campus's Fall 2027 table confirms January 15, 2027 for applications and February 1 for documents. Its recommended early application checkpoint is November 7, 2026. Most first-time applicants use the OUAC Undergraduate form, operated by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre. Choose TMK at Mississauga and check your Join U of T document list after the university receives the application.
No Forensic Sciences category supplement, Casper test, portfolio or interview is listed in the checked high school requirements. That is separate from the later institute application. Don't confuse a university program-selection form with something every Grade 12 applicant must complete now. Your immediate tasks are the school requirements and the documents requested in your personal portal checklist.
UTM can assess available junior and senior marks while you finish school. It can use a matching Grade 11 mark for a required subject. This applies when the Grade 12 mark is not yet available. An offer remains conditional on the stated final requirements. Keep the Ontario university deadlines guide beside your other school choices, and make sure a future forensic program goal doesn't distract you from the immediate transcript and application checkpoints.

Read the later institute application as a different stage
The current calendar requires a direct institute application as well as the relevant university program request. It opens each year on March 1 and closes on May 1. There is one request round. These are current annual rules. You might reach this stage in Spring 2028 after a Fall 2027 start. That future process has not yet been confirmed. Recheck the calendar and institute instructions before that stage.
The double major currently needs 4.0 credits. FSC239Y5 must be at least 70% on the first attempt. Chemistry, calculus and Physics course rules also apply. You need an approved second major. Its cumulative grade point average floor, or CGPA floor, is 2.7. The calendar says the actual required CGPA varies and is never lower than that figure. Meeting the floor is not an admission guarantee.
The specialists have different course lists and a current CGPA floor of 3.2. For example, Forensic Psychology lists PSY100Y5 at 75%, Biology courses at 65%, and FSC239Y5 at 70% on the first attempt. Biology and Chemistry specialists have their own science requirements. These are university marks, not school entry marks. Read the full path-specific conditions before selecting first-year courses or assuming one successful subject opens every specialist.
Match a provincial or international science record
UTM publishes provincial equivalents for the required senior subjects. Alberta uses five Grade 12 subjects at the 30/31 level and lists Math 30-1, Biology 30 and Chemistry 30 as relevant equivalents. British Columbia uses six academic subjects, with Pre-Calculus 12, Biology or Anatomy & Physiology 12, and Chemistry 12 in its list. Check the exact path preparation alongside your province's diploma rules.
International applicants need an accepted school qualification and the required subjects at the appropriate senior level. The central page covers IB, A Levels and other school systems. If your school offers more than one curriculum, it must name the one you follow. Don't assume that a general science course provides Biology and Chemistry separately. Ask about any uncertain equivalent before your school timetable becomes hard to change.
The campus gives a 70% senior English and 75% general overall floor in its requirements, while curriculum-specific assessment is handled by the university. Don't invent an Ontario conversion for another grading system. English proficiency is also a separate check where required. Follow the university's test or exemption conditions and the document delivery rules in your portal. A passport doesn't tell you which academic qualification will be assessed.

Compare co-op and field experience by forensic path
The checked 2026-27 UTMCIP list includes the four forensic specialists. It does not list the general Forensic Science double major in that section. The calendar describes a later co-op stream with limited places. It has its own form, course rules and tasks to prepare for work. The published paid work term lasts 12 or 16 months. The degree normally takes five years with this stream. A category offer isn't a guarantee of that stream.
The current co-op list sets course conditions for each specialist. Forensic Anthropology and Forensic Biology don't use identical subject marks. You need to meet the marks for your own route. There is no single co-op score for every campus program. The list is a 2026-27 reference, not a confirmed promise for your later entry year. Recheck future eligibility and added fees before planning around a particular placement.
The category page also describes field schools and other experiences. These experiences can help you compare degrees. They do not promise a lab or police-service job. Think about the scientific methods you want to learn and the further study a chosen career may require. A program's list of possible careers is not evidence that the undergraduate admission offer qualifies you for all of them.

Use dated fees and confirm the science path next
General Arts & Science tuition in approved 2026-27 Schedule 2 is $6,220 for Ontario residents, $7,610 for other Canadian residents and $66,110 international. For new international entrants in 2027, the 2027-28 INFO column gives $68,750. U of T calls the future figures planned fees for information only. Approved Fall 2027 domestic tuition is still pending. Check housing and co-op charges as well.
The U of T aid guide covers wider scholarship and funding options. Its residence owner covers housing. Keep the year and residency group on each cost you use. Don't assume a future co-op wage will pay a bill before you have a job. An affordable plan should still work if an award or preferred placement isn't available.
Your next step is to choose the forensic science direction you want to preserve. Check English, Biology and Advanced Functions, then ask about the Chemistry difference between the two official preparation lists. Set the January and February reminders for this high school application. Recheck missing fee approvals and undated range guidance on November 1, 2026. Check the later program rules again before choosing first-year courses. Recheck them before you apply for the major or specialist too.
