University of Toronto co-op: UTSC, ASIP, PEY, and UTMCIP
U of T has co-op, but there is no single university-wide model. The official tri-campus directory brings together five systems with different entry points: direct-entry and internal co-op at UTSC, in-course ASIP for St. George Arts & Science, PEY for Engineering, and UTMCIP after first year at Mississauga. Compare the exact campus and program before treating “U of T co-op” as one choice.

Which U of T co-op entry point applies?
Applying from high school
Choose a UTSC co-op admission category if direct-entry co-op is the priority. The later specialist or major still has first-year course and grade requirements.
Entering St. George Arts & Science
Plan for an in-course ASIP application, normally for Year 2. Confirm that the intended major or specialist appears on the live eligibility list.
Entering U of T Engineering
Use the Engineering PEY sequence: first-year introduction, second-year preparation, optional summer recruitment, then the long 12- to 16-month term.
Entering UTM
Check whether the intended Subject POSt participates in UTMCIP and preserve the first-year 4.0-to-6.0-credit application window.

U of T does not publish one co-op price. These are the exact 2026–2027 schedules currently available for UTSC Arts & Science Co-op and St. George ASIP. Engineering PEY, UTMCIP, and Management Co-op have separate assessments; check the live program account before budgeting.

Engineering PEY Co-op structure
PEY Co-op combines an optional 3–4-month summer work term after Year 2 with a paid 12–16-month professional experience year after Year 3, for up to 20 months of work experience. In 2025–26, more than 1,000 PEY Co-op students had access to 800+ employers, with published average annual salaries from $55,000 to more than $90,000.

UTSC Arts & Science Co-op fees and income
For 2026–27, students entering co-op from first year (Fall 2025 cohort onward) pay $625 × 8 terms ($5,000) domestic or $830 × 8 terms ($6,640) international; second-year entry is charged $833 × 6 or $1,106 × 6. UTSC reports students have earned an average of about $11,790 per four-month work term.

Work Study: paid on-campus roles beyond co-op
Work Study is not a co-op stream, but it is U of T's main paid on-campus employment route and runs alongside any academic program. These are the current published rules.
What it is
Paid, Co-Curricular Record-recognized on-campus roles in Work Experience and Research Experience streams, offered on all three campuses.
When it runs
Two sessions per year: a fall/winter session from September to March and a summer session from May to August.
Hours
Weekly hours must not exceed 15, within funded totals of 200 hours in the fall/winter session and 100 hours in summer.
Eligibility and applications
Undergraduates need a minimum 2.0 FCE across the fall and winter sessions, international students need valid work authorization, and positions are posted on CLNx, which does not itself screen eligibility.
