Apply to a category with several science directions
Mathematical & Physical Sciences is a first-year Arts & Science category at St. George. Its code is TPG. It brings together paths such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy. You can explore courses before choosing a later program. That flexibility has limits: the subjects you take in school and first year can determine which choices you are ready to request.
The central bulletin lists distinct programs within the category. Applied Mathematics and Astronomy don't have the same course plan as Chemistry or Chemical Physics. Read the row for the program you're interested in, including its required and recommended science subjects. A broad category title should help you compare possibilities. It should not hide preparation that matters for a particular laboratory or maths sequence.
The U of T hub explains the three-campus setting. This guide concerns TPG at St. George. UTM's Mathematical & Computational Sciences and Chemical & Physical Sciences are separate categories. Their course lists and marks aren't interchangeable with this one. Keep the campus and category on your planning sheet so a search result from another U of T location doesn't change your course plan by mistake.

Protect English and Calculus in Grade 12
Ontario applicants must complete the diploma and six Grade 12 U/M courses. English and Calculus are required for the category. The university lists English as ENG4U or EAE4U, and Calculus and Vectors as MCV4U. U means university preparation; M means university/college preparation. A data-management course is useful in some fields, but it isn't the listed substitute for this category's calculus requirement.
The 2027 faculty Guide recommends mid to high 80s for both English and Calculus. It doesn't print a separate numeric minimum in either course. Keep the distinction between a required subject and recommended grade guidance. You also shouldn't copy the Engineering faculty's 70% course floors into this Arts & Science application. The two faculties publish different rules, even though some school subjects overlap.
Look beyond the category list if you want a specific science. The bulletin lists Chemistry with calculus and chemistry preparation. It lists Astronomy and Physics with calculus and physics. Some options mark other subjects as recommended. Confirm those details before dropping a science course to raise a general average. You could meet broad admission preparation while losing access to a first-year course needed for your intended program.

Understand the mid-to-high-80s guidance
The faculty's 2027 Guide uses the label Recommended Admission Range. For this category it gives Mid to high 80s. The note says these figures reflect last year's Ontario curriculum average. The central 2027-28 bulletin uses Approximate Grade Requirement and gives the same overall range. It also says its figures are based on the previous year's admission average and are only general guidance.
Neither publication identifies a final Fall 2027 cutoff. Neither names the underlying cohort year beside the category row. We retain the publication year and the school's previous-year description. That is more precise than saying you must get a particular new-cycle percentage. The faculty also looks at required-course marks and the wider academic record. Strong electives don't make your calculus preparation irrelevant.
Use our Top 6 calculator for a planning check of your Ontario record. Confirm which courses are eligible and keep the required subjects visible. If the result is below the published context, compare other science options you would accept and work on the subjects that need attention. Don't use the range as a personal chance estimate. Recheck new grade guidance on November 1, 2026.

Choose the application and meet the two main dates
Most first-time applicants use the OUAC Undergraduate application. OUAC is the Ontario Universities' Application Centre. Select Mathematical & Physical Sciences at St. George, code TPG. The university's 2027 table confirms January 15, 2027 for the application and February 1 for Arts & Science supporting documents. The category has no listed supplementary application, Casper, interview or portfolio requirement.
The early recommended path uses November 7, 2026 for the application and December 1 for available documents. Those fall checkpoints are part of the 2027 entry cycle. After applying, read your Join U of T checklist. Ontario schools normally send marks, while other records can need uploads or official result delivery. Applying early isn't a reason to stop checking for a request that appears later.
U of T has an International Application for a limited group outside Canada with no Canadian study history and no other Ontario university application. Read the full eligibility before selecting it. Previous U of T enrolment can require the internal form instead. Keep the Ontario university dates guide beside your calendar, but use the university's instructions for the documents required in your own file.

Use the correct maths equivalent outside Ontario
The Canadian requirements page lists diploma and subject equivalents by province. British Columbia applicants generally present six Grade 12 academic subjects; Calculus 12 or accepted AP calculus can meet the calculus subject. Alberta uses five subjects at the 30/31 level and lists Math 31 as the calculus equivalent. Read the entry for your province rather than treating every senior maths course as calculus.
For the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the university requires English and accepted maths preparation. Its calculus options for science include Analysis and Approaches at Standard or Higher Level, and Applications and Interpretations at Higher Level. Applications and Interpretations at Standard Level meets Advanced Functions only. That distinction matters for TPG. Check your predicted or final results and the full qualification rules before assuming an overall diploma score covers the maths requirement.
British-patterned applicants normally need five different GCSE/IGCSE/Ordinary subjects and three A Levels. Maths at AS or A Level is required for programs with a calculus prerequisite. Other national curricula have their own accepted qualifications and subjects. English proficiency evidence can also be required, apart from the senior English course. Ask the university about a mixed record; don't create your own conversion from international marks into Ontario percentages.

Read the first-year course map before choosing a program
The Mathematics calendar distinguishes its calculus sequences and program paths. The Physics calendar sets its own course prerequisites. These are current university rules, rather than a promise about every option you'll have after starting in 2027. Use them to ask better questions about preparation. A course that sounds more advanced isn't automatically the best choice for the degree combination you want.
Arts & Science allows specialists, two majors, or a major with two minors within the degree rules. That can let you combine a science with another subject. Each program still has entry and completion requirements. Check which first-year courses serve more than one possible route, then keep alternatives that fit your interests. A timetable built only around one limited program can make a later change harder.
The most useful school preparation isn't only a mark target. Practise explaining mathematical steps and checking units in science problems. Read how a required lab or course is assessed when the official outline is available. These are study choices, not extra admission criteria. U of T doesn't ask you to upload a personal science project or portfolio for the broad TPG category in the checked instructions.

Compare internship routes by the later program
The university describes the Arts & Science Internship Program, or ASIP, for eligible programs. It isn't the same as Engineering's PEY Co-op. Read the internship eligibility attached to the program you hope to enter. Some Mathematics and related program calendar entries identify an ASIP option. An offer to the broad category doesn't by itself give you an internship place or guarantee an employer's job.
An internship can affect the order of study terms and the time needed to finish. Fees and later admission rules can change too. Ask about the current stage at which you apply, and keep the program name on the answer. A university-wide statement about work experience is not proof that every specialist or major has the same option. Don't budget on a future salary before you have secured a position.
The separate ASIP website blocked this automated check. The successfully read university bulletin and academic calendars support the limited details given here. We haven't filled a missing fee or work-term statistic from a third-party summary. The calendar should be rechecked before first-year course selection and before requesting a later program, especially because the rules for your eventual second year may differ from today's reference.

Keep your costs dated and your next step clear
The approved 2026-27 Schedule 2 report gives general Arts & Science tuition of $6,220 for Ontario residents, $7,610 for other Canadian residents and $66,110 for international students. Its 2027-28 INFO column lists a planned $68,750 for new international entrants. U of T labels those future values information only. Approved Fall 2027 domestic fees remain unconfirmed; incidental, housing and internship charges need separate checks.
Look at the U of T financial aid owner for award and funding options. Use its residence guide for housing. Some later regulated programs have different tuition, so keep your intended program visible in a long-term budget. An entrance award and a future internship wage are not money you can count on until the award or job is confirmed.
Start now by confirming English, Calculus and six eligible Grade 12 courses. Next, check the extra science preparation beside the two or three program paths you might choose. Add the January 15 and February 1 checkpoints to your calendar. Recheck new fee notices and undated grade guidance on November 1, 2026. Ask the faculty about any course equivalent that your school or curriculum doesn't make clear.
