What kind of U of T financial support can you use?

Domestic applicant or student

Apply for OSAP or your home province or territory's student aid first. Eligible students with unmet need can then apply separately for UTAPS through Need Navigator.

Check UTAPS routes and deadlines

International applicant

U of T automatically considers international applicants for most admission scholarships, but it does not provide direct need-based financial aid. Named awards can require extra steps.

Compare international scholarships

Search Award Explorer and the central in-course application, then check your campus, college, faculty, and program because they can run separate competitions.

Most entrance awards use automatic consideration, but some of the largest scholarships require a school nomination, Awards Profile, or separate application. The official U of T scholarships page reports $55 million in admission awards and should be checked again before applying.

What automatic scholarship consideration means

Application
Most admission awards are assessed from the U of T admission application without a separate scholarship form.
Decision timing
Selected applicants are typically notified with their admission offer, with details in the offer letter or applicant portal.
Multiple awards
More than one award may be possible, but each scholarship's combination rules and conditions control.
Renewal
Some awards are one-time and others are renewable; the offer terms are the final authority.

Fall 2027 scholarship deadline status

U of T has published the September 2027 Pearson competition: school nomination by October 9, 2026, admission application by October 16, 2026, and Pearson application and documents by November 6, 2026. The National Scholarship and Awards Profile pages still show the completed 2025–2026 cycle or a typical early-February date. Do not copy those old dates into a Fall 2027 calendar.

Start with the right application route

How to find and apply for U of T scholarships

“Automatic consideration” does not cover every University of Toronto scholarship. Use the route that matches the award instead of assuming one admission application completes every funding step.

Automatic admission-award consideration

Who this route is for
Eligible applicants to first-year, direct-entry undergraduate study, including domestic and international secondary-school applicants.
What to do
Submit the admission application. U of T automatically considers applicants for most entrance awards, including U of T Scholars and President's Scholars.
Timing
No separate scholarship form for these awards; monitor the applicant portal and admission offer.

Awards Profile

Who this route is for
Final-year high-school applicants who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons.
What to do
After applying, open the Awards Profile in Join U of T or the Engineering Applicant Portal and provide the requested financial, leadership, activity, and background details.
Timing
Normally due in early February. The Fall 2027 date was not published when reviewed.

School nomination and separate application

Who this route is for
Applicants targeting Pearson, National, Schulich Leader, or another award with its own nomination and eligibility rules.
What to do
Ask the school to verify eligibility and nomination capacity early, then complete both admission and scholarship-specific steps.
Timing
Pearson has confirmed Fall 2027 dates; National and external programs use separate calendars.

Award Explorer and division search

Who this route is for
Applicants and current students looking beyond the best-known central awards.
What to do
Search Award Explorer, then check the exact campus, college, faculty, and program pages because awards are administered across U of T.
Timing
Search before applying and again after admission; each result can have its own deadline and application route.

Where are the St. George scholarship tiers?

U of T publishes campus-wide admitted-average tables for UTM and UTSC, but it does not publish one equivalent universal table for every St. George applicant. U of T reports that colleges, faculties, and divisions administer 5,700 admission awards. Search Award Explorer and the pages tied to your exact college, faculty, and program.

Campus-specific automatic awards

UTM and UTSC entrance-scholarship tiers

Mississauga and Scarborough publish their own automatic domestic tiers. The admitted average is the campus's calculation, and an offer letter is the final authority. UTM says awards are not reassessed and uses the first attempt for repeated courses in its scholarship calculation.

UTM international awards

UTM automatically considers eligible international secondary-school applicants for International Scholar Awards worth up to $180,000, $100,000, or $60,000 over four years. Verify UTM awards.

UTSC international awards

UTSC automatically considers eligible international secondary-school applicants for renewable International Scholar Awards published at $45,000 or $25,000 per year. Verify UTSC awards.

Need-based funding

U of T grants, bursaries, OSAP, and UTAPS

Scholarship

Non-repayable funding based on academic excellence alone or together with criteria such as leadership, community involvement, or financial need.

Grant or bursary

Non-repayable funding based primarily on demonstrated financial need. U of T often uses the word grant where another institution might use bursary.

Government aid

Loans and grants from OSAP or the applicant's home province or territory. Domestic students normally begin here before need-based U of T support.

UTAPS

U of T's need-based grant program for eligible unmet costs after government aid or qualifying Indigenous sponsorship funding.

A current procedural change matters: U of T's 2026–2027 instructions say students seeking UTAPS consideration must submit through Need Navigator with any requested documents. Do not assume an OSAP application alone completes UTAPS.

International applicants

University of Toronto scholarships for international students

International applicants are automatically considered for most admission scholarships, but campus, faculty, and named competitions can add a profile, nomination, or separate application. Follow the route tied to your admission choice.

Automatic admission-award consideration

Who it is for
International secondary-school applicants entering first-year undergraduate study at any U of T campus.
Required action
Submit the admission application. U of T says international applicants are automatically considered for most admission awards during the admissions review.
Timing
No separate application is required for most awards. Scholarship details normally appear with the offer or in the Join U of T portal.

Engineering international scholarships

Who it is for
International applicants to the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering who want to be considered for its international awards.
Required action
Complete the Financial Information section of the Engineering Online Student Profile in addition to the admission application.
Timing
U of T's current international-scholarship page states January 15 as the Financial Information deadline.

UTSC International Financial Aid Profile

Who it is for
International secondary-school applicants to U of T Scarborough.
Required action
Complete the International Financial Aid Profile in the Join U of T portal. UTSC encourages this even though applicants are automatically considered for its entrance scholarships.
Timing
UTSC says scholarship decisions are communicated before the deadline to accept an admission offer; follow the applicant portal for the profile's current deadline.

Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship

Who it is for
Eligible international students beginning first-entry undergraduate study in September 2027.
Required action
Secure the one-per-school nomination, apply to at least one U of T program, and submit the private Pearson scholarship application.
Timing
October 9, 2026 school nomination; October 16 admission application; November 6 scholarship application and documents.

Scholarships are not the same as international need-based aid. U of T says it cannot provide direct need-based financial aid to international students as a publicly funded institution. Most scholarships also do not cover the full cost, so applicants need a realistic funding plan and must satisfy Canada's study-permit proof-of-funds rules. Read U of T's international funding guidance.

University of Toronto scholarships for current students

Admission awards are only one stage. U of T says Award Explorer contains more than 5,900 in-course scholarships for current students. The central 2026 in-course application uses MyAwardsHub, opens September 8, 2026, and has a published deadline of November 13, 2026 at 5 p.m. EDT. Academic divisions can run separate competitions, so check both the central in-course awards page and your division.

  3. 3

If eligible, complete the Awards Profile. U of T says it is normally due in early February, but the Fall 2027 date is not yet published.
