Course requirements
U of T asks Ontario students for the OSSD (the Ontario Secondary School Diploma) with six 4U or 4M courses. For Kinesiology those must include English (ENG4U or EAE4U), one math from Calculus and Vectors or Advanced Functions, and one science from Biology, Chemistry or Physics. The co-op part of Grade 12 courses isn't used for admission.
The Faculty strongly recommends Introductory Kinesiology (PSK4U), and recommends Biology and Physics. It also strongly recommends Chemistry if you plan to take several university biology courses. Plan your timetable with our course planner.

Average and selection
U of T's Kinesiology program page doesn't publish an admission average or range, so treat numbers you see elsewhere with care. Admission uses your grades and the Statement of Interest, and every applicant must submit the statement.
U of T doesn't publish a Kinesiology acceptance rate; our U of T acceptance rate page explains what it does publish. Work out your average with our Top 6 average calculator.

The Statement of Interest
Every BKin applicant completes an online Statement of Interest that includes the name and contact information of one referee. The Faculty says applicants who don't complete it are disqualified.
For 2027 admission, U of T lists the Statement of Interest as due February 1, 2027, submitted in the Join U of T applicant portal after you apply through OUAC. The Faculty's own page still shows last cycle's date, so go by the 2027 table and your portal.

Documents are due February 1, 2027. U of T releases decisions from January to late May. Indigenous applicants who meet the minimum requirements can also be reviewed through the Indigenous Student Admission Pathway.

What you study
The BKin combines biophysical, psychological and physical-cultural study of human movement and health. Courses run from exercise physiology to the psychology of injury and rehabilitation and ethics, and some, such as Teaching the Child, Aging and Adapted Physical Activity, include applied sessions in the field.
You can take electives from other parts of U of T, such as biology, psychology and the humanities. BKin students have their own academic advisers, and the Health Sciences Writing Centre has a location in the Faculty. Students interested in teaching can look at the BKin Combined Master of Teaching.

In-field learning, not co-op
U of T's BKin pages describe in-field learning rather than co-op. In third, fourth or fifth year you can take an elective course (KPE355Y or KPE455Y) that includes a placement: 100 hours from September to March, about 5 hours a week, with a mentor who has at least three years of experience in the field.
The Faculty works with more than one hundred community partners, and you rank your preferences when the application opens. You can also propose your own placement.

Facilities and community
The Faculty runs U of T's Sport and Recreation facilities and programs, which are open to all U of T students. One membership covers the Athletic Centre, the Varsity Centre and the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport, with programs from recreational classes to competitive leagues.
The Faculty's research units include labs in biomechanics and sport medicine, exercise oncology, human physiology, concussion research and sport psychology. BKin students can do independent research projects with professors and present at national conferences.

Careers and transfers
The Faculty lists career paths in the health sciences and regulated health professions, education, coaching, sports administration, public health, ergonomics, clinical trials management, clinical kinesiology and the fitness industry. Graduates also go on to professional and graduate schools.
Transfer spaces are limited and competitive. The Faculty recommends high school grades in the A range and a university GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale to be competitive, and students on probation or suspension aren't eligible.

Tuition and scholarships
U of T's 2026-27 fee report lists Kinesiology tuition at $6,220 for Ontario students under the 2% schedule it applies from Fall 2026 (its freeze-basis schedule shows $6,100). Incidental and ancillary fees, residence and a meal plan are extra, so budget for them separately and confirm the amount for your year on the official fee schedule. Students from other provinces pay $7,610. International students entering in 2026 pay $51,460, and the report lists $54,030 for 2027-28 for students entering in 2027.
