At UTSC, it means Management and a few other programs. Each one has its own format. Most are due February 1, 2027. Engineering and Music are due January 15, 2027. Does your U of T program need a supplementary application?
U of T says most programs only need your academic results. Some ask for a supplementary application to get a fuller picture of you. There isn't one standard U of T supplement. Each program runs its own, with short answers, essays, a personal profile, a portfolio, videos or an audition.
The table above lists every program on U of T's central list. If your program isn't there, you probably don't need a supplement. Always check your Join U of T portal, or the Engineering Applicant Portal for Engineering, since U of T says the portal shows any supplement you need.

How you get access
Apply on OUAC first. About a week later, U of T emails you instructions for your JOINid and the Join U of T applicant portal. Most supplements open there. Engineering uses its own Engineering Applicant Portal. Some fees are paid with your OUAC application, like $52 for Rotman Commerce and $45 for Engineering.
U of T recommends applying by November 7 and sending documents by December 1 for early consideration. It says decisions are released from January through late May.

Rotman Commerce
Every Rotman Commerce applicant completes its Supplemental Application on Kira Talent. It has one prepared written answer, done within 20 minutes, and one prepared video answer of 90 seconds. Then come two more video answers, each 90 seconds, on questions you see only after you start. Each 90 seconds includes a 30-second preparation period, and you are recorded for the full time.
Rotman gives you the two prepared questions, one written and one video, after you submit your application. You get unlimited practice sessions. The fee is $52. The early consideration deadline is December 1, 2026, and the final deadline is February 1, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Rotman says it considers the supplement alongside your academic record in a holistic review.
The Rotman pages we read don't state an AI rule. We still don't write or edit these answers. See our Rotman Commerce admission requirements and Rotman Commerce pathway.

Computer Science at St. George and UTM
St. George Computer Science, in the Faculty of Arts and Science, needs a Computer Science Supplemental Application. U of T's 2027 deadlines table lists it as due February 1. The Faculty's admission page blocked our automated check with a security screen, so we couldn't confirm the 2027 format. Read the instructions in your Join U of T portal.
UTM Computer Science needs its own mandatory supplementary application. It is one written answer to this question: "Please list achievements and/or experiences that are not reflected in your transcript and that would help us fully understand your interest and potential in computing." The fee is $52 and the deadline is February 1, 2027. UTM says the submission can boost your application but will not hinder it. If you submit more than once, UTM considers only the most recent answer.
UTSC Computer Science isn't on U of T's supplement list. Compare all three campuses on our U of T Computer Science pathway.

Engineering
All U of T Engineering programs need the Online Student Profile, which the Faculty now calls the Engineering Supplemental Application. You rank programs, list activities with references, report grades and record a Personal Profile of three timed video answers. It costs $45. The deadline is January 15, 2027, and finishing by December 1 puts you in the earlier rounds.
U of T says the Personal Profile must be entirely your own work, with no one else present. Our U of T Engineering Online Student Profile guide covers every part.

Architecture and Visual Studies (Daniels)
Every Daniels applicant must send the One Idea Supplementary Application. Architectural Studies applicants make an object from household materials, small enough to carry in your arms. You document it with exactly three photographs and write a summary of up to 200 words. Daniels says no portfolio is required or accepted. Visual Studies applicants send six to eight images and a statement of 250 to 650 words about two or three of them.
The final deadline is February 1, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. There is an early December 1, 2026 date for international and out-of-province high school applicants only. You get only one chance to submit. Missing the deadline means automatic refusal. See our U of T Architecture admission requirements.
Kinesiology and Music
Kinesiology applicants submit an online Statement of Interest with one referee's name and contact information. The faculty says students who don't complete it will be disqualified. U of T's 2027 table lists it as due February 1, but the Kinesiology page still shows February 16, 2026. Confirm the date in your portal. See our U of T Kinesiology requirements.
Music applicants complete the Music Questionnaire in Join U of T. It opens by October 12, 2026. U of T Music recommends finishing by January 8, and the final deadline is January 15, 2027. You choose up to two programs or instruments, confirm your audition method and repertoire, and list two references. Jazz applicants add a pre-screening video. Once the questionnaire is reviewed, you book your audition or interview. See our U of T Music requirements.

UTM Theatre and Drama and the UTSC SAF
UTM Theatre and Drama Studies needs an audition, which includes an interview. Registration runs from November 11, 2026 to January 26, 2027, and the audition fee is $50. Auditions take place in February and March 2027, with results in March or April. Academically qualified applicants first get a Humanities offer, which updates if the audition succeeds.
At UTSC, Management, Management and International Business, Double Degree, International Development Studies co-op, Music Industry and Technology, and Paramedicine require the Supplementary Application Form. It opens in Join U of T in late October. UTSC says your deadline appears in the portal about 2 to 4 weeks after you apply, and U of T's table lists February 1. If you are required to submit it and don't, you won't be eligible for the program. Once you submit, you can't make changes.

U of T rules on AI and outside help
U of T doesn't have one rule for every supplement, so read each program's page. Here are the rules we found, quoted from U of T's own pages.
UTSC: "Unauthorized help is not allowed and constitutes misrepresentation." UTSC lists three examples: "Use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT", "Submitting work that is not your own" and "Having someone else complete the form". UTSC also says the form must be completed only by the applicant.
Daniels: "Students and applicants found to have used generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to create content that is presented as their own will be disqualified from eligibility for admission." Daniels also says AI-made images or text lead to automatic refusal.
Engineering: "The Personal Profile must be entirely your own work." No one else may be present, and no other apps or devices may be used.
The Rotman Commerce, UTM Computer Science and Music pages we read don't state an AI rule. Treat every answer as your own work anyway.

How U of T uses supplements
U of T says supplements give you a chance to share more about yourself beyond your grades. Rotman Commerce says it considers the supplement alongside your academic record in a holistic process. UTSC says trained staff with diverse backgrounds read SAF answers with an anti-discriminatory lens. No U of T page we read publishes a rubric or a percentage weighting.
For admission odds, see our U of T acceptance rate page. For other schools, compare the supplementary applications chapter and the UBC Personal Profile.

Where U of T pages differ
Engineering's supplement is called the Online Student Profile on U of T's central pages and the Engineering Supplemental Application on the Engineering site. It is the same thing.
Kinesiology's Statement of Interest is due February 1 on U of T's 2027 deadlines table. The Kinesiology faculty page still says February 16, 2026, which reads as last cycle's date. Plan for February 1, 2027 and confirm in your portal.
