U of T Engineering Online Student Profile 2027: the parts, the timed video Personal Profile and the January 15 deadline
U of T Engineering requires an Online Student Profile, which the Faculty now calls the Engineering Supplemental Application. Without it, your application is not considered. You fill it in on the Engineering Applicant Portal after you apply on OUAC. It has several parts: your program ranking, a timeline, your grades, your activities and a Personal Profile of three timed video questions. The fee is $45. Finish by December 1 for early review. The final deadline is January 15, 2027. The Personal Profile must be entirely your own work.

Online Student Profile or Engineering Supplemental Application?
They are the same requirement. U of T's central Future Students site still lists it as the Online Student Profile, due January 15. The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering's own pages now call it the Engineering Supplemental Application. This guide uses both names.
The Faculty says it is mandatory. If you don't submit it, your application won't be considered. It tells the Admissions Committee about your abilities, strengths and interests, and U of T says it is especially interested in activities and achievements that show leadership, dedication and overall excellence.

How you get access
Apply to U of T Engineering on OUAC first. U of T charges an extra Engineering Supplemental Application fee of $45 when you submit your OUAC application.
Shortly after U of T receives your OUAC application, you get a JOINid. Once you enable it, you go to the Engineering Applicant Portal, which is separate from the Join U of T portal. The Personal Profile is reached from the Engineering Applicant Portal with no separate login. Our guide to the Engineering portal and ACORN explains the portals.

The Personal Profile: the timed video part
The Personal Profile is three timed video responses. U of T's FAQ says it takes about 30 minutes online and uses three randomly selected, timed video questions. U of T says it wants to see your reasoning and communication skills, and that there is no right answer.
The same FAQ lists 20 minutes of uninterrupted time in its equipment list, so the two figures differ. Set aside at least 30 minutes.
U of T does not publish the reading or answer time for each question on the pages we checked. Its Personal Profile video tutorial shows how the platform works and sample questions.
Once you begin, you must finish all questions in one sitting. There is no chance to redo the Profile later. You can do the practice questions as many times as you like, and the real assessment only starts when you click Start Assessment.

What you need for the Personal Profile
U of T lists the setup in its FAQ. If you don't have a computer with a camera, U of T suggests asking your high school or a local library first, then contacting the Engineering Admissions Office.
- A laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and microphone, on a browser Kira Talent supports
- A stable internet connection
- Pen and paper for notes
- A quiet location where no one else is in the room
- Uninterrupted time (U of T gives both 20 and about 30 minutes)

U of T's rules on outside help
U of T's FAQ says: "The Personal Profile must be entirely your own work and therefore it is important that no one else be present (in person or virtually) during the completion of your assessment." A parent or friend can't sit with you, even for support.
It also says applicants must type responses directly into the Kira Talent platform, and that "No other applications or devices may be used while completing the Personal Profile." You may take notes on paper.
The Engineering pages we read don't name generative AI directly. The own-work rule and the ban on other apps and devices already rule it out during the Profile. Activity entries must also be checkable: U of T requires a reference for each activity and may verify it.

Fall 2027 deadlines
For Ontario high school students, U of T Engineering recommends applying on OUAC by November 7. If you finish the Supplemental Application and send available documents by December 1, you're considered in the February and/or March admission rounds.
The final deadline is January 15. U of T's 2027 deadlines table lists the Online Student Profile as due January 15. If you finish by then, you're considered starting in the March round. If you finish after January 15, U of T won't consider you until the May round. Admitted students reply on OUAC by June 1.
U of T advises applying on OUAC well before January 15, since it can take up to a week for U of T to receive your application. Compare dates on our Ontario university application deadlines page.

How U of T uses it
U of T says the Admissions Committee uses all information available: every part of the Engineering Supplemental Application and your full academic record. It doesn't publish a rubric or a weighting.
Activities count. U of T's FAQ says marks alone don't give a complete picture of your potential. The activities section is also used for scholarships. Personal Profile reviewers are members of the U of T community who have been specially selected and trained. U of T says you are assessed on the content of your answers, not on how nervous you look.
Your Profile is used only for your admission review and is not made public. Your PEY Co-op answer does not affect the decision.

Keeping it up to date
U of T asks you to update grades, activities and documents as new information comes in. Ontario high schools send Ontario grades automatically, but you still self-report interim and final grades in the Academic Profile. U of T warns that careless entries can delay review.
While the Admissions Committee reviews your file, it is locked and you can't make changes, though document upload stays open. Check the Engineering Applicant Portal dashboard for status and decisions.

Scholarships and special consideration in the same form
The optional financial information page lets domestic students apply for the U of T Engineering Black Student Entrance Scholarship and the Indigenous Student Entrance Scholarship. International students can give information for the International Scholar Award.
If serious personal, health or accessibility issues affected your studies, you can submit a Request for Special Consideration. There is also an optional personal statement for challenges or academic accomplishments. For accommodations on the Personal Profile, contact the Engineering admissions office early and have your guidance counsellor confirm them.

Other U of T programs have their own supplements. Our U of T supplementary applications guide lists them by campus. For the program itself, see our U of T Engineering pathway and Toronto engineering programs page.

For parents
You can help with the admin: the $45 fee, the JOINid email, a working webcam, a quiet room and reference contacts for each activity. You can't be in the room during the Personal Profile. U of T says no one else may be present, in person or virtually.
Aim for December 1. Finishing early puts your child in the earlier admission rounds, and the form locks while it is under review.
