Waterloo generally requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and six Grade 12 U/M courses, including every prerequisite for the chosen program. Some required courses have minimum final grades. College-level, open, and co-op courses are not included in the admission average, and competitive or individual-selection programs can also require supplementary forms or interviews.

For Ontario applicants, Waterloo averages the required courses for the chosen program plus the highest remaining Grade 12 U/M grades needed to make six courses. If final grades are not yet available, Waterloo can use midterm or predicted results. Program-specific minimum grades still apply even when the overall top-six average is higher.

Waterloo says its published ranges run from the high 70s to the mid-90s depending on the program. Current examples include low 80s for Honours Arts and Business and Biomedical Sciences, mid-80s for Accounting and Financial Management and Statistics, and individual selection from the low to mid-90s for Computer Science. These are planning ranges based on prior admitted students, not guaranteed cut-offs.

For Fall 2027, Waterloo lists January 15, 2027 as the application deadline for Engineering programs excluding Architecture, followed by a February 1 document deadline. Most other programs have a February 1 application deadline and a February 15 document deadline. Specialized programs can use different dates, so verify the program page and applicant checklist.

Apply for full-time undergraduate study through OUAC. Waterloo says it normally emails applicant-portal instructions within 24 to 48 hours after receiving the application. Complete the Declaration of Academic Experience, then use the personalized checklist to submit any required transcripts, language results, AIF, supplementary forms, interviews, or other documents by the applicable deadline.

No. Waterloo's current American-system program pages state that SAT and ACT scores are not required for undergraduate admission. U.S.-system applicants must still meet the accredited high school diploma, program-specific senior academic or AP course, grade, transcript, document, and English requirements. AP results still matter when a program requires an AP subject; Waterloo Computer Science currently requires AP Calculus with a minimum score of 4.
