Use the current OUAC route and your actual school history
You don't need Ontario's school diploma simply because the university is in Ontario. The institution checks your province's accepted qualification and the subjects required for the degree. U of T describes two stages: apply through OUAC, then complete its portal tasks. Start with the OUAC Undergraduate application linked by your university. U of T Scarborough specifically directs Canadian high school graduates outside Ontario to its Group B route. Laurier also directs prospective students to apply through OUAC.
The current wording is Group A and Group B. You may still find older advice under 101 or 105. Use the OUAC 101 versus 105 guide for the full group comparison instead of treating an old label as a separate form to find. If you've studied in more than one system, report your school history accurately. Keep the current instructions beside the application. The sections below cover the province-specific course and document work you'll need after identifying the right route. If your most recent study is at college or university, check that route before using the high school requirements.

Translate the prerequisite before you compare your average
A program page may describe its requirements using Ontario course names. Find the equivalent subject for your own curriculum on that university's admissions page. For Alberta, U of T maps Advanced Functions to Math 30-1 and Calculus to Math 31 or its listed AP option. English is ELA 30-1. That mapping lets you check your timetable without pretending you took the Ontario course.
Repeat the check for every required subject. A course that counts toward graduation may not satisfy a particular degree's mathematics requirement. Copy the provincial course name beside the Ontario requirement and its required mark. Then use the Waterloo Engineering guide or your chosen program's own requirements for the rest of the course set. Ask admissions if your course isn't on its list. Send the course code and description rather than assuming a similar title means an exact match.

Keep university-specific course counts and equivalents separate
A British Columbia applicant provides a useful example. U of T requires six Grade 12 academic subjects, including English. Laurier calculates its average using five courses from its accepted list, with required program courses included. Neither count should be copied over the other. Make a separate academic checklist for each university even when the degree names sound similar.
Nova Scotia mathematics shows why the course mapping needs the same care. U of T lists Advanced Math 12, Math 12 or Pre-Calculus 12 as Advanced Functions equivalents. Laurier lists Pre-Calculus 12 for Advanced Functions; its Math 12 entry belongs under Data Management. Those are different institutional rules, not a single conversion you can use everywhere. Check the full official provincial chart before changing your school timetable. If your course has a local name or code that isn't printed, get an answer from the university while there's time to adjust your plan.

Treat Quebec CEGEP as its own entry route
Quebec applicants need to identify the qualification they're presenting. Laurier distinguishes Grade 12 Pre-U from CEGEP. It uses six Grade 12 Pre-U courses including English, and doesn't accept Sec 5 alone for admission. Its one-year CEGEP route requires at least 12 courses for consideration. The page has a separate table for CEGEP English, mathematics and science equivalents.
U of T also separates CEGEP Year 1 from Grade 12 and gives different instructions when you've completed more CEGEP study. Don't select the closest-looking high school row without reading that distinction. Your transcript route can differ too: U of T asks for your Permanent Code in the OUAC application to obtain CEGEP transcripts. Waterloo says your school sends CEGEP grades automatically. Follow each university's instructions for any additional records. The U of T university hub provides the wider program context once you've identified the right academic route.

Arrange transcripts using the route your university actually lists
Don't assume your marks will reach every university automatically. Waterloo asks B.C. and Yukon applicants to use Student Transcripts Service, select OUAC and choose Send Updates. You also provide your Personal Education Number, or PEN, in the OUAC application. Its Saskatchewan instructions instead name MyCreds and ask for a timetable showing enrolment in the required courses.
If you're applying from Alberta, Waterloo asks for a Detailed Academic Report, or DAR. Upload it with first semester final grades and second semester course enrolment. You can get this record through MyPass. After an offer, use MyPass to have the official final transcript sent directly to Waterloo. This Alberta route is separate from the general row for other provinces and territories.
For Waterloo's other provinces and territories, upload the available marks and proof of required-course enrolment through the applicant portal. U of T tells Canadian high school applicants outside Ontario and Quebec to upload transcripts and complete its self-reported form. Laurier uses its own portal for unofficial records. Keep a list of what you sent to each institution and the route you used. A transcript order and a completed self-report are different tasks. Check the university's received-document list before assuming both have been completed.

Separate admission review documents from final official records
An uploaded school report can help a university review your file without being the final official transcript. U of T says unofficial documents may support a provisional decision, but official records sent by the issuing institution are required to finalize an offer. Waterloo also distinguishes unofficial review copies from the official final transcripts needed to meet offer conditions.
Laurier says it doesn't accept unofficial documents by email. Its instructions direct you to upload current marks and course enrolment through the applicant portal, then arrange final official records from the issuing institution. If you attended more than one school, check which records each university needs. Keep originals safe and follow the university's submission instructions. You don't need to send every document through every possible channel. You need the correct record delivered in the format the receiving university accepts, with enough time to resolve a missing item.

Build a calendar from university and program rows
There isn't one date in this comparison that you should apply to every choice. Laurier's Fall 2027 application page lists April 1 for all other applicants. Its document page gives May 12 for unofficial transcripts and July 15 for final transcripts. Use the Laurier deadline guide for the remaining tasks, and check the program is still available.
Waterloo's Engineering application date is January 15, 2027, with documents and forms due February 1. The main other-program row is February 1 and February 15. U of T's 2027 table gives January 15 applications for St. George Arts & Science, with February 1 supporting documents. Some programs need separate supplements. Put those beside the application date. The Waterloo calendar and U of T deadline guide keep their detailed rows together. Don't reuse Ontario-high-school response or deposit dates without checking the terms for your own offer.

Read the offer and the cost plan together
If an offer arrives while you're still in school, read every academic condition. U of T says it can assess available Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks while you're enrolled in the required final-year courses. That doesn't remove the need to finish your qualification and supply final records. Save the offer conditions beside your remaining school courses so you can check both as results arrive.
Then plan the practical move. Use the Laurier tuition guide with its financial-aid information and residence choices. Check which fee category applies to you and which funding you can actually use. Discuss travel and housing with whoever is helping pay. Keep any award or income you're hoping for separate from confirmed support. The course and document plan should lead to a place you can attend, not just a completed application.

Keep unanswered rules attached to the official source
The course charts above are current requirements with no year given, not a promise that every future rule will stay fixed. Check the named program again before you apply and when a university sends new instructions. Laurier's Alberta paragraph, for example, mentions diploma results in the final average and also says it uses the higher grade when both school and diploma grades are presented. Ask Laurier how those statements apply to your record rather than inventing a calculation.
The workflow here relies on university-owned pages, including U of T Scarborough's Group B instruction. Use the existing group guide for the wider classification question. For the rest, keep one checklist per university and a short list of questions still awaiting an official answer. That keeps an unresolved requirement visible without guessing what a future admission decision will be.
