For Winter 2026 and later, applicants prove French through a recognized prior academic path or an accepted test. Results must be less than 24 months old, and the required level and document deadline are program-specific.

UdeM accepts the TEF family (TEF Études, TEF Canada, TEFaQ), the TCF family (TCF Canada, TCF Québec, TCF tout public), and DELF or DALF diplomas at the listed levels. It also accepts its intensive francization program and listed FRS courses passed with at least a B-. Required levels depend on the program.
