Western University

Western requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and at least six Grade 12 U/M courses, excluding co-op, including ENG4U and every program prerequisite. Western currently states that required courses need at least 70%. Competitive admission averages are normally higher and vary by program, and meeting the published requirements does not guarantee an offer.

There is no single Western admission average for every program. Western's current previous-incoming-class ranges run from the low 80s for several entry categories to the high 80s or low 90s for Engineering, Health Sciences, and Nursing. These are averages, not cut-offs or guarantees, and competitive results can change with the applicant pool and available places.

Western's current undergraduate admissions pages do not publish one university-wide acceptance rate that can predict an individual decision. Western reviews applicants by program or faculty, prerequisites, grades, capacity, and any required supplement. The program-specific typical range is more useful than an unofficial campus-wide percentage.

Western reviews every required course for the selected program plus the applicant's highest eligible Grade 12 grades. If a required course is still in progress, the applicant must show enrolment. Western may use overall Grade 11 performance in earlier rounds, and it says the highest grade earned is used when a course is repeated.

Ontario applicants normally enter through Western Social Science (OUAC code EO), which requires ENG4U and currently recommends any Grade 12 U/M math because Psychology majors and Honours Specializations require first-year university math. For a Psychology BSc route, SBI4U plus SCH4U or SPH4U may also be needed for the required first-year science courses. Students request a Psychology module after first year rather than applying directly to the module from high school.

Western and OUAC list January 15, 2027 as the equal-consideration deadline for full-time undergraduate Ontario high school applications. Ivey AEO is also due that day.
