It depends on the exact program. Some Arts and Social Sciences routes may not list Grade 12 math, while business, science, engineering, computer science, and other quantitative programs can require it. Use uOttawa's current program prerequisite tool for your applicant background and selected program; do not assume that a no-math option is a university-wide rule.

uOttawa requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and at least six Grade 12 4U, 4M, or DU courses. Every prerequisite for the chosen program must normally be a 4U course. Grade 12 co-op, career, and work experience courses do not count toward the six eligible courses, and meeting the published minimum does not guarantee admission.

uOttawa uses the top six interim or final grades in eligible 4U, 4M, or DU courses, including every required subject. It does not round grades up. If an applicant repeats a course, uOttawa uses the best mark, and when mathematics is required it considers the highest level of mathematics attempted.

There is no single uOttawa admission average. The live Ontario prerequisite tool reviewed July 29, 2026 lists representative minimums of 75% for Political Science, 80% for Accounting and Biomedical Science, 84% for Mechanical Engineering, 85% for Health Sciences, 87% for Software Engineering, and 90% for Computer Science and Nursing. These are current minimums, not guaranteed cut-offs, and must be rechecked for Fall 2027.

uOttawa has confirmed that Fall and Winter 2027 applications open September 17, 2026. It recommends applying by January 15, 2027 for most Fall direct-entry programs and limited-enrolment programs, with documents and test results due by February 15, 2027 or within 30 days of applying. Programs can close once full, even though many Canadian-applicant programs may remain open into June.

Apply online through OUAC, then follow uOttawa's acknowledgement instructions to access the admission file in uoZone. Check that grades and requested documents have arrived, complete any program-specific audition, portfolio, assessment, or form separately, and monitor uoZone and official email for the decision and offer conditions.
