Course requirements

Ontario students need an Ontario high school diploma with at least six 4U, 4M or DU courses. For the BCom, three must be English 4U (ENG4U) or Français 4U (FRA4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U) and Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U). Other English 4U courses such as EWC4U or ETS4U also count as the English.

If you don't have MCV4U, uOttawa lets you take a replacement course at the University the summer before or during first year. Grade 12 co-op courses don't count toward admission. Plan your courses with our course planner.

The 80% minimum and three rounds

uOttawa lists an 80% minimum admission average for every BCom option. It says these are minimums only and meeting them doesn't guarantee admission. Your average is your top six 4U, 4M or DU grades, including the prerequisites. If math is required, uOttawa always counts the highest math you've attempted.

Ontario applicants are reviewed in three rounds. Round one runs mid November to the end of January and uses your best five Grade 11 and 12 final grades. Round two runs mid February to mid April. Round three runs mid May to August and uses six Grade 12 grades. No one is denied before round three. Work out your average with our Top 6 average calculator.

Deadlines

uOttawa's prerequisites tool lists the Fall 2027 application deadline for Canadian applicants as June 1, 2027, with documents by June 15, 2027. International applicants have May 1 and May 15, 2027. Since rounds start in mid November, applying early means you're considered sooner.

The BCom also takes students for Winter 2027. That deadline is October 17, 2026, with documents by November 1, 2026.

Co-op at admission

Every BCom option offers a co-op stream. You can apply to co-op when you apply to uOttawa if your admission average is at least 80%. A spot is then reserved, and in most programs you keep it by holding an 80% average in first year. If you don't meet the co-op rules, you can still get an offer to the program without co-op.

If you don't start in co-op, most programs let you apply by September 30 of second year. Accounting students apply by April 30 of second year. uOttawa says about 1,000 students are accepted to co-op each year across all programs, and co-op students graduate with about 16 months of paid work.

Co-op fees for 2026-27 are $896 for each term you are matched with an employer, or $1,125 for international students.

French immersion

Every BCom option also offers a French Immersion Stream, where you take a third of your courses in French. The requirements above are for the program offered in English.

How the BCom is built

The Honours BCom is 120 units, or 40 courses. Every student takes 21 common core courses in areas such as marketing, financial management and organizational behaviour. The rest is made up of option courses and electives, including 5 courses from outside the business faculty.

You can build your degree in several ways: one business option, two options, an option plus a minor in another faculty, an option plus a microprogram, or the Specialization in Accounting. Options include Accounting, Business Analytics, Business Technology Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Healthcare Analytics, Human Resource Management, International Management, Management and Marketing.

The International Management option includes a required international exchange. Telfer also offers a BCom and Juris Doctor double degree of 62 courses.

Starting in January

Telfer's Winter Admission Pathway lets you start the BCom in January and still graduate with students who began in the fall. For Winter 2027, applications are open from September 17 to October 17, 2026.

Telfer sets a course sequence for winter starters, including a summer term in second year. Co-op and French immersion are still open to you. In co-op, winter starters usually complete three work terms.

Once you accept a winter offer, an academic adviser contacts you to help with enrolment. Upper-year peer mentors and early January events help you settle in. After second year, you shape the rest of your degree through the option sequences.

International students who have already finished all prerequisites could apply early, from June 1 to 15, 2026, for a January 2027 start. The usual $248 application fee was waived for that window.

BCom plus a master's in five years

The Dual Fast-Track Degree combines the BCom with a Master of Science in Management (with Research Project). You can apply to it directly on OUAC. You take two graduate courses in the fall of fourth year, then start your research project in the summer after it.

To continue, you need a cumulative GPA of 8.0 (A-) when you enrol in the graduate courses, and at least 65% (C+) in each one. With that GPA you don't need to write the GMAT or GRE. You may also be asked to attend an interview.

Telfer scholarships

On top of uOttawa's automatic admission scholarship, Telfer says more than 100 scholarships are open only to its BCom students. Some are admission scholarships, and some are for international students, financial need or exchange.

You apply for these through Online Scholarships and Bursaries in your uoZone account. You complete a student profile, choose the awards you want, and finish the tasks each one asks for. Some deadlines fall in the winter term.

For parents

MCV4U matters here. Your child needs it, or a replacement course at uOttawa. An 80% average opens both the program and the co-op application.

The co-op decision comes at admission, so talk about it before your child applies.
