For the Honours BSc, uOttawa asks for ENG4U or FRA4U, Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and two of Biology (SBI4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Physics (SPH4U) or Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U). uOttawa strongly recommends MCV4U. The 75% minimum average

uOttawa lists a minimum admission average of 75% for both the BA and the BSc. It says these are minimums only, and meeting them does not guarantee admission. uOttawa does not publish a Psychology acceptance rate or a typical admitted average.

Your final average uses your top six 4U, 4M or DU grades, including the prerequisites. If you repeat a course, uOttawa uses your best mark. Use our Top 6 average calculator to check your number, and see our University of Ottawa acceptance rate page for what the school shares.

How the three rounds of offers work

uOttawa reviews Ontario high school applicants in three rounds. Round one runs from mid November to the end of January. It uses your best five final grades from Grade 11 and Grade 12 (3U, 3M, 4U and 4M). For programs with math and science prerequisites, like the BSc, it includes at least one math and two sciences.

Round two runs from mid February to mid April. It uses six final grades, with at least two Grade 12 grades, and checks that you are enrolled in your prerequisites. Round three runs from mid May to August and uses six Grade 12 grades, interim or final, including all prerequisites.

uOttawa does not deny anyone in the first two rounds. Denials and alternative offers go out in round three. If you have no decision by then, uOttawa says to expect one around the end of May. Your file is reconsidered each round as new grades reach the OUAC.

Fall 2027 deadlines

uOttawa's requirements tool lists Psychology as open, with an application deadline of June 1, 2027 and a document deadline of June 15, 2027 for Canadian applicants. International applicants have May 1 and May 15, 2027. There is no Winter or Spring entry.

A late deadline does not mean you should wait. Offers start in mid November, so applying early through the OUAC puts you in the first round. Compare dates on our Ontario university application deadlines page.

BA or BSc: which to pick

uOttawa says the BA focuses on how we learn, communicate and interact with one another. It prepares students for graduate study in experimental psychology, clinical psychology, health sciences, education or administration. The BA comes as an Honours BA, a Major or a Minor, and there is a joint Honours BA in Psychology and Linguistics.

The BSc focuses on the biological, chemical and cognitive factors behind human and animal behaviour. It prepares students for graduate work in experimental psychology, clinical psychology, neuroscience or health sciences. Both are four years and 120 units. Pick the BSc if you enjoy biology, chemistry and the brain. Pick the BA if you lean toward social and developmental topics.

English, French and French immersion

Both degrees are offered in English and French. You can also take the French Immersion Stream, where you take one third of your courses in French. The requirements above are for the program offered in English.

uOttawa offers a French Studies Bursary of $4,000 ($1,000 a year) to full-time students in a direct-entry faculty who take enough courses in French each term, or French as a second language in immersion. It renews if you keep a CGPA of 5.50.

Co-op and research

uOttawa's list of co-op programs does not include undergraduate Psychology. The Faculty of Social Sciences list covers fields like Economics, Political Science and Sociology. Psychology co-op appears only at the master's level. So plan for no co-op in the Psychology degree.

The School of Psychology lists an honours thesis and directed research as options. Its program pages say students can take part in research projects, including statistics and data analysis. The Faculty also lists international internships and field research courses from third year.

Scholarships

The University of Ottawa Admission Scholarship for 2027-2028 is automatic. It gives $3,000 at 95 to 100%, $2,000 at 90 to 94.9% and $1,000 at 85 to 89.9% to eligible full-time students in a direct-entry faculty. Your admission average decides your amount.

For parents

uOttawa Psychology admits on grades. The BA needs only Grade 12 English, which makes it open to arts focused students. The BSc needs Advanced Functions and two science or calculus courses, with 70% across them. The published minimum is 75%, but that is a floor, not a promise.

There is no undergraduate co-op in Psychology, so look at research and thesis options instead. uOttawa notes that clinical and research psychologist roles need doctoral study. Read our University of Ottawa guide for campus details.
