uOttawa Campus Guide: Main Campus, Lees and Alta Vista

Most uOttawa students spend their days on main campus, downtown beside the Rideau Canal. Lees campus is one O-Train stop away and holds Faculty of Health Sciences space and Gee-Gees Field. Medicine, nursing and rehabilitation classes happen at Roger Guindon Hall on the Alta Vista campus, next to Ottawa's hospital complex. A mandatory U-Pass ($240.67 a term in 2026-27) covers OC Transpo and STO, and a weekday shuttle links all three sites.

Main campus at a glance

Main campus holds most classrooms, the Morisset Library, Learning Crossroads (CRX), the University Centre, the Dining Hall, the Minto Sports Complex, Montpetit Hall and six of the eight first-year residences. Tabaret Hall is at 550 Cumberland Street.

OC Transpo describes uOttawa Station as sitting on campus beside the Rideau Canal, a short walk from Sandy Hill and the Golden Triangle. Friel and Rideau residences are off campus, in Lowertown and near the Rideau Centre.

O-Train Line 1 and the U-Pass

uOttawa Station opened on September 14, 2019, on O-Train Line 1, which runs east-west from Blair to Tunney's Pasture through a downtown tunnel. The next stops are Lees Station toward Blair and Rideau Station toward downtown. OC Transpo says Lees Station makes it quick to connect between uOttawa's Lees and main campuses. OC Transpo runs Line 1 trains every five minutes at rush hour.

The U-Pass is mandatory for full-time students and students on a co-op work term. Your uOttawa student card is the pass: tap it on OC Transpo and STO readers in Ottawa and Gatineau. uOttawa says it saves about 45 to 55% on a regular adult monthly pass. In spring and summer, it only works if you're full time or on a co-op placement.

The shuttle between campuses

The uOttawa shuttle loops from main campus to Lees, Saint Paul University, 850 Peter Morand and Roger Guindon Hall on weekdays. The 2026-27 schedule has the first main-campus departure at 7:20 a.m., reaching Roger Guindon at about 7:45 a.m. Evening runs go Monday to Thursday. There's no service on weekends, statutory holidays such as Thanksgiving (October 12, 2026), or from December 23, 2026 to January 2, 2027.

The main-campus stop moved about 100 metres north, in front of Fauteux Hall near University Private. In early September, the Roger Guindon run can fill up between 8 and 9:30 a.m. and between noon and 2 p.m. If it's full, the next bus is usually 30 minutes later, so your U-Pass on OC Transpo may be quicker. Track buses live in the BusWhere for uOttawa app after signing up with your uOttawa email.

Getting to campus when you first arrive

From Ottawa International Airport, O-Train Line 4 runs to South Keys Station, where you transfer to the rest of the network. Ottawa's VIA Rail station connects directly to OC Transpo. uOttawa's grace period for new student cards ran September 1 to 28, 2026 on OC Transpo and September 1 to 20 on STO. If your card doesn't work, visit uOttawa Card Service in 90 University, room 145.
