January 15 is the target, and a full program can close sooner

uOttawa's Fall 2027 page recommends applying before January 15, 2027. It also says programs may close as soon as they reach capacity. Those two statements belong together. January isn't a promise to hold a place while you finish deciding. If you've chosen a suitable program and can submit a correct application, waiting for the final month can reduce the choices left. The central page specifically names Acting, Visual Arts, Music, Social Work and most Engineering and Health Sciences programs as competitive.

Applications for September 2027 opened September 17, 2026. Apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre, or OUAC. It sends your choices to Ontario schools. Awards and housing have separate forms. Read our Ontario deadline guide for the wider calendar. Use the application opening guide to compare systems. Is your chosen degree open? Check its language option too. An open school form doesn't mean every program still has room. Read the exact choice's status before you pay. Keep a copy of the choice you sent.

Program language and applicant group change the final answer

The English-language deadline page applies to programs offered in English. A separate French page covers French programs. Both publish the Fall 2027 opening and January recommendation, but the program selector still asks about your background. Don't use a date from a different language stream just because the subject name looks similar. A French Nursing choice and an English Nursing choice need their own checks. The same care applies to a combined degree. Write the language, degree title and applicant background together in your calendar.

The checked English program rows are more exact. Nursing at Ontario and BC high school backgrounds has January 15, 2027 applications. Documents are due February 15. The Ontario rows for Music and Health Sciences use those same dates. Each gives them for both Canadian and international status groups. These are firm program dates. They aren't just the central January target. Other school systems still need their own result. Select yours rather than assume that a Canadian passport makes an Ontario course list fit your schooling.

Central guidance says most programs for Canadian applicants close in June. Most for international applicants close in May. Neither statement supplies one common day for all degrees. We therefore don't turn them into June 1 and May 1 deadlines. Check the detailed program selection for a firmer answer. The uOttawa program hub helps you choose a route. The Canadian deadline guide compares schools, but its broad rows can't replace the exact program and background you've selected at uOttawa.

The document target follows its own rule

uOttawa asks you to meet all application requirements, including documents and test results, as soon as possible. Its central deadline is February 15, 2027 or 30 days after applying. Keep that 'or' in your plan. Don't assume every late application automatically gets the later of two dates, or that everyone who applies early has the same personal checklist. If the two instructions seem to clash in your case, ask Admissions which branch applies. Give the program and the day you submitted, so the office can answer your case.

An offer can set another grade deadline. Read the letter. Follow its date and the format it asks for. A final transcript shows marks after your courses end. An interim record helps the school assess you earlier. The admitted page asks for the full official record. Don't send a web link or a copy from a student portal instead. Track what was requested and what you sent. Read the Nursing requirements guide for course entry rules. The Engineering guide covers that degree's courses. Those rules are separate from when a record is due.

Music has an audition calendar with a language conflict

The Music page gives February 15 to 20, 2027 for in-person auditions. It still says that dates are to come, and its individual instrument rows don't supply days. The registration sentence says January 19 without a year. We show both the confirmed audition window and that registration limit. You must apply through OUAC first, then follow the audition process. A January target for one part of the file doesn't mean the university automatically books your audition or completes the extra application for you.

Video submissions have a conflict you should resolve directly with Music. The English page gives February 22, 2027. The French page repeats February 22 near the top, but its video section gives February 23. We don't silently pick the later date. Ask which one governs the application and video link for your route, then keep the written answer. The same pages say late applications may be considered only if places remain. That isn't a guaranteed extension. See the uOttawa Music requirements guide for the degree and audition context.

Acting and Visual Arts have their own source differences

Acting's department says application deadline March 1, 2027. The Ontario high school selector instead gives January 15 for the form and February 15 for documents. Ask whether March 1 is a separate audition task or a later admission date. Don't assume an extension. Toronto auditions are March 6 and 7. Ottawa auditions are March 12 and 13. Callbacks are April 10. Those dates are confirmed for 2027. A Zoom day is still pending. The May 20 program-change date is for current uOttawa students, not your Grade 12 application.

Visual Arts has a similar date difference. Its department says yearly March 1 for OUAC and April 1 for the portfolio. Neither line has a year. The Ontario BFA selector gives January 15 and February 15, 2027. Ask the school which set applies to your file. SlideRoom closes submissions after the deadline. Incomplete portfolios won't be reviewed. Once you submit, you can't change your work. Seven self-initiated works must have no outside influence. You create that work yourself. A paid adviser must not help you make those pieces.

Awards don't all wait for an admission offer

The scholarship overview lets you start using Online Scholarships and Bursaries after applying and receiving your access credentials. You don't need to wait for a final admission decision to learn which forms exist. Each award has its own eligibility and deadline field. Under the 2027-28 sections, several awards show March 31 without a year beside that individual field. We keep the cycle heading and the yearless wording visible. Check the actual award entry, rather than assume one March application puts you into every competition.

Some dates have a year. The overview gives January 27, 2027 for the Schulich Leader nomination. It gives October 15, 2026 for Loran. At this October 16 check, that Loran day has passed. No late extension is confirmed. The Admission Scholarship is automatic. It needs no form. March 31 applies to other awards. One is the bursary for postsecondary studies in French as a second language. Read the exact award heading above each date. Our uOttawa financial-aid guide explains these funding routes. A shared deadline doesn't mean one application covers them all.

Residence has a new opening beside older guarantee dates

The application page now gives December 8, 2026 at 9 a.m. Ottawa time for newly admitted students. You need an offer before entering the housing process. The page says an application is complete when both the form and deposit have been received. Payment by an alternative method can take several days to process. That makes the received date matter. Keep the housing receipt separately from admission. Paying a required admission deposit doesn't itself complete the residence deposit or choose a room.

The guarantee details haven't all caught up with that new opening. The Canadian section still expires June 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The international section still names Fall 2026. The dates page also remains a 2026-27 schedule, with a $950 deposit and old refund dates. None of that confirms the Fall 2027 deposit amount or closing day. We leave those pending. Use the uOttawa residence guide for the broader housing choices, and confirm the session shown when you apply. Room preferences aren't a promise of a particular room.

Offers have both a dated update and a yearless rounds page

For Fall 2027, the counsellor update says highly qualified applicants can receive conditional offers in December 2026. Offers continue through the end of May. The Ontario rounds page gives a different yearless outline: a mid-November start and a third round running from mid-May to August. Its own FAQ expects a final decision around the end of May. Those statements differ in scope and timing. We show the conflict rather than promise a result in a particular month. The Ontario offer guide provides the wider comparison.

The rounds page says there are no refusals in the first two rounds. New grades can lead to another assessment. That is useful context if a classmate hears before you, but it doesn't cancel a missing-document task. For accepting, uOttawa's admitted page uses the expiry printed in your offer. The same applies to any required admission deposit and final conditions. We haven't confirmed one universal Fall 2027 school reply day here. Read the PDF letter, not just the headline status in your account, before setting the final acceptance reminder.

A missed deadline isn't one single kind of problem

If a program is full, the central calendar doesn't promise that a late request will reopen it. Music's possible late review applies only when places remain. After admission, uOttawa separately allows two weeks for delayed documents used to verify offer conditions in unusual circumstances. That isn't an extension for the first application, a portfolio or every deposit. Explain which task is late when asking for help. The checked central admission pages don't give one shared clock time or zone for all tasks; only use the specific times that are actually published.

What to do this week

Choose your program language and background before saving a date. Keep the University of Ottawa hub with your plan. If you're considering Music, ask about the video-date conflict now. Set a November 1 reminder for the unresolved housing and extra-material calendar.

  • Prepare a correct OUAC application that meets the January 15 recommendation.
  • List the documents your background needs and track the February or 30-day instruction.
  • Check award eligibility once your uOttawa credentials arrive.
  • Save December 8 at 9 a.m. Ottawa time for residence opening, then confirm the offered session.
