2027 applicant update

University of Ottawa admission requirements for 2027

Ontario high school applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and at least six Grade 12 4U, 4M, or DU courses. The top six interim or final grades—including every prerequisite for the chosen program—form the admission average. Grade 12 co-op, career, and work experience courses do not count. Published minimums are eligibility thresholds, not guaranteed admission cut-offs.

University of Ottawa application deadlines for 2027

uOttawa's confirmed Fall 2027 schedule recommends applying by January 15, 2027 for most direct-entry programs. Limited-enrolment programs—including Acting, Visual Arts, Music, Social Work, and most Engineering and Health Sciences programs—also use January 15 as the recommended application date. Most Canadian-applicant programs can remain open into June if space remains, but the university can close any program once it reaches capacity.

Does uOttawa require a supplementary application?

There is no general mandatory supplementary application for every undergraduate program. Some programs require their own supporting documents, auditions, portfolios, or assessments, so applicants must check the exact program rather than assuming OUAC is the only step.

The Declaration of Personal Experience is not a conventional competitive supplement. It is reserved for Canadian citizens, permanent residents, refugees, or protected persons whose exceptional circumstances significantly affected their marks and whose expected average is below the posted program minimum. Applicants submit one declaration per admission term in uoZone before a decision is issued. It does not replace prerequisites or guarantee admission, and it is not used for JD or graduate admission.

How much is the University of Ottawa application fee?

Most direct-entry undergraduate applicants pay through OUAC. The current OUAC base fee is C$156 for the first three program choices, plus C$50 for each additional choice. Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents also pay a C$10 international service fee. These fees are non-refundable.

uOttawa's fee schedule effective September 1, 2026 lists a C$93 document-evaluation fee for applicants to whom that assessment applies. OUAC's older fee page still displays C$92, so applicants should budget C$93 and use the amount shown at checkout. The limited applicant categories that apply directly to uOttawa pay C$104 unless their route is specifically fee-exempt. Music auditions, portfolio evaluations, transcripts, and professional applications can add separate charges.

When does the University of Ottawa send admission offers?

uOttawa says it uses three admission rounds. Its counsellor guidance describes conditional offers beginning in December for highly qualified applicants and continued offers through the end of May. That pattern is context, not a guarantee for a particular program or applicant. OUAC's 2027 schedule says Ontario high school applicants who met the January deadline can expect an admission response by May 28, 2027. The admission file in uoZone is the authoritative place to track the decision and missing documents.

uOttawa co-op admission requirements

Direct-from-high-school applicants normally need at least an 80% admission average for co-op consideration. Applicants can select co-op with many programs when applying; Biomedical Science, Health Sciences, Human Kinetics, and Translation use a later-entry process. Software Engineering is different because co-op is mandatory. Selecting an optional co-op stream does not change the academic admission decision, and a reserved co-op place still depends on meeting the program's ongoing requirements.

The canonical University of Ottawa co-op guide below explains reserved places, later entry, current deadlines, work terms, fees, hiring, and international-student rules. Compare the structure with other institutions in the Ontario university co-op guide.
