How the collaborative program works

TMU's Collaborative Nursing program leads to a TMU Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students admitted to the TMU campus spend all four years there. Students admitted to a college campus complete the first two years at the college and the last two at TMU, with university and college faculty teaching in all years.

TMU's 2026-27 calendar names Centennial College and George Brown College as partners. TMU's program page for applicants lists grade ranges only for the TMU and Centennial sites. Check which sites are open when you apply.

TMU calls it one of Canada's largest nursing programs.

The grade range

TMU's program page shows a grade range of 90%+ for the TMU site and 85% to 90% for the Centennial College site. TMU says the average needed changes each year with the number of applications and spaces, and the ranges reflect previous years.

Nursing is a grades-only program, so the decision is based on academic performance. TMU doesn't publish a Nursing acceptance rate; our TMU acceptance rate page explains what it does publish.

How TMU calculates your average and when you'll hear

TMU uses your best six Grade 12 U or M courses, which can include repeated or upgraded marks. The average may or may not include your prerequisites, and TMU works to two decimal places without rounding. The university minimum is 70%.

Grade 11 results may be used in early admission, and offers set the Grade 12 final results you must reach. OUAC has a January deadline, but TMU accepts applications for equal consideration until February 1.

Decisions for grades-only programs like Nursing are rolling, and most come out between February and the end of May. If you applied by February 1 and are placed on a wait list, TMU tells you by late May. You'll see your decision in the ChooseTMU Applicant Portal.

Placements and getting ready for them

Placements are mandatory. TMU says students have access to more than 250 placement settings across the Greater Toronto Area, including acute care hospitals, long-term care homes, rehabilitation hospitals and community agencies.

Before placements you must complete the Practice Requirements Record with your health care provider, get a vulnerable sector police check, be fitted for a respiratory mask, and hold Healthcare Provider level CPR, renewed every year. Students who aren't cleared can't enrol in clinical courses, and a placement agency can refuse a student whose police check isn't clear.

First-year courses include NSE 111 Foundations for Nursing Practice and PPN 101 Introduction to the Nursing Profession.

Becoming a registered nurse

Graduates can write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and register with the College of Nurses of Ontario. TMU's calendar lists conditions the College sets for writing the registration exam, so read them before you start.

Your work experience comes through the program's mandatory placements rather than a separate co-op stream.

For parents

The site your child picks changes the grade range: 90%+ at TMU and 85% to 90% at Centennial, for the same TMU degree. Listing both sites can widen their chances.

Placement clearances (police check, health record, CPR and mask fitting) take time and have deadlines. Start them as soon as your child accepts. Compare other Ontario programs on our Ontario nursing guide.
