TMU Campus Guide: Buildings, TMU Station and TTC Fares

TMU's campus is a set of city blocks just north-east of Yonge and Dundas in downtown Toronto. Buildings line Yonge, Church, Gerrard and Dundas streets, with Gould Street running through the middle. The subway stop that was Dundas Station has been TMU Station since December 7, 2025. From August 31, 2026, the TTC stopped charging after 47 fares in a month, but it still sells a $128.15 Post-Secondary Monthly Pass.

Getting to campus

TMU names two subway stations for campus, both on Line 1 Yonge-University. From TMU Station you exit through the Eaton Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square, the Atrium on Bay or 10 Dundas; walk north on Yonge and the SLC is on your right. From College Station you come out at College Park, College Street or Carlton Street; walk south on Yonge to Gerrard or Gould and turn left. College Station is also the closest stop for the MAC.

GO riders arrive at Union Station. The SLC says that's about a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute subway ride to TMU Station. The TTC's One Fare program means you pay once when you connect between GO Transit or other GTA systems and the TTC, as long as you tap the same PRESTO card, debit or credit card each time.

Driving is the expensive option. TMU's orientation page puts nearby parking at roughly $20 a day, with the closest lots on Victoria Street just north of Dundas.

TTC fares for TMU students in 2026-27

Most TTC monthly passes ended on August 31, 2026, when monthly fare capping began. Tap the same PRESTO card, debit card, credit card or phone for every trip, and after 47 paid fares in a calendar month the rest of that month is free. The Post-Secondary Monthly Pass is one of two passes the TTC still sells, but pass trips don't count toward the cap.

Which option is cheaper depends on your age and how often you ride. Post-secondary students pay the adult pay-as-you-go fare of $3.30, and 47 of those come to $155.10 a month. The $128.15 pass costs about the same as 39 fares. If you're 19 or under, the Youth fare of $2.35 on a PRESTO card also counts toward the cap, and the post-secondary photo ID can't be used with Youth fares.

Getting the TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card

You need this card to buy and use the Post-Secondary Monthly Pass, and you must show it to TTC staff on request. You're eligible if you're enrolled full time in a degree or diploma program at a recognized post-secondary school in Toronto. Certificate students aren't eligible. Cards for 2026-27 have been available since August 15, 2026.

  • Get the card at the TTC Photo ID Office at Bathurst Station for $5.25, or at an on-campus visit for $7.00.
  • The TTC's 2026 TMU visit was September 15, 2026 in the Layton Room of the student centre at 55 Gould Street. The TTC lists an October visit as to be confirmed.
  • Bring proof of full-time enrolment showing your name, TMU and your dates of study, plus government or school photo ID. Screenshots are accepted; old-semester documents aren't.
  • Then take the ID card and your PRESTO card to Shoppers Drug Mart or a participating Customer Service Outlet to set the Post-Secondary fare type.
  • Passes go on sale in the last 12 days of each month and until the 8th of the next month. There are no refunds for part-month cancellations.

Living in the middle of the city

TMU sits a few steps from Yonge and Dundas, one of the busiest intersections in Canada. That means shops, food and transit close by, and busy sidewalks. The Kerr Hall quad and the SLC are the two spots TMU points new students to for quieter time.

Part of Victoria Street on campus is now Nelson Mandela Walk, and the Library's main doors face its pedestrianized intersection with Gould Street. Older maps and some building addresses still use Victoria Street, so you'll see both names.
