Grade 12 courses
Ontario students need an OSSD and six Grade 12 U or M courses. Three are required: English (ENG4U or EAE4U preferred), Chemistry (SCH4U) and Biology (SBI4U). Each needs at least 70%.
TMU recommends a Grade 12 U math course, a Grade 12 U or M social science or humanities course, and a senior family studies course. These are not required. If you're missing chemistry, biology or English, TMU's Chang School offers Grade 12 U equivalents.

The average you need
You need a 70% overall average to be considered. TMU says the average needed can change each year with the number of applications and spaces. The program page shows a grade range of 70% to 75%, which TMU says is the average required in previous years.
The calendar words it a little differently. It says the grades required in the subject prerequisites are normally in the 70% to 75% range, set by competition. Both pages say you may need more than the minimum. Aim above 75% in English, chemistry and biology.

Grades only, no essay
TMU lists Nutrition and Food as a Grades-Only program. Admission decisions are based on academic performance. There is no supplementary application, essay, interview or portfolio.
That makes your Grade 12 marks the whole application. Protect your three required courses, since each must be at least 70%.

The dietetics route
TMU's calendar says there are three educational steps to becoming a registered dietitian. You must meet both academic and practical experience requirements before writing the Canadian Dietetics Registry Exam (CDRE).
For the academic part, the School of Nutrition says to complete the seven Dietitians of Canada required courses, plus ACC100. After graduation you pursue the practical experience requirement, which the school calls highly competitive.
TMU runs one practical option itself, the Professional Master's Diploma (PMDip) in Dietetics. It is a full-time, one-year practicum program with hospital partners. Its page lists SickKids and Sunnybrook. It also has an old note that two partners weren't taking PMDip students for 2024-2025. Ask TMU which sites are current. The PMDip has its own admission requirements and application.

Nutrition and Food has no co-op. The program page lists its experiential learning as a research project.
You also get hands-on work through the Nutrition Discovery Labs, the Centre for Studies in Food Security and the Urban Farm at TMU. Senior students can go on exchange in the Winter term to partner schools in Australia and France.

Nutrition and Food sits in the Faculty of Community Services. The same faculty offers Public Health (BASc), Midwifery (BHSc) and several Nursing (BScN) programs. Public Health suits you if you care about population health more than food. Nursing suits you if you want direct patient care from day one.
After the degree, TMU lists further study in dietetics (PMDip), food science, food security, health promotion and Nutrition Communication (MHSc). Compare our TMU Nursing guide if you're weighing a clinical career.

For parents
This is a grades-only program with a moderate range. The real hurdle comes later. Becoming a dietitian needs a practical training spot after the degree, and the school calls that step highly competitive.
The program also leads to careers outside dietetics. TMU lists roles such as nutrition consultant, product developer, food labeling specialist and certified diabetes educator.
