TMU Library and SLC Study Spaces: Floors, Hours, Rooms

TMU's two main study buildings are joined by a bridge. The Library Building at 350 Victoria Street runs quiet and group floors up to a silent 10th floor. The Sheldon & Tracy Levy Student Learning Centre (SLC) at 341 Yonge Street has eight floors of open seating and bookable group rooms. You need a valid OneCard to get into both. In Fall 2026, the Library is open until 1 a.m. every night, and the SLC closes at 11 p.m. on weekdays.

Library or SLC: which fits the task

The Library has the books, the computers and the strictest quiet rules. The SLC is a newer, glass-walled building with outlets at every workstation, built for bring-your-own-laptop study and group work. The SLC has no computer labs, but the Library lends laptops at its 2nd-floor Circulation Desk and has printing stations on floors 2 and 5. The pedestrian bridge from the SLC's 2nd floor goes straight into the Library.

The Library floor by floor

The Library's main entrance opens into a lower ground lobby; take the stairs or elevator up two floors to reach the Library. Each floor has its own noise rule, so pick the floor before you settle in.

TMU's pages disagree about the 3rd floor. The study-space page lists it as a quiet floor with the most computers after the 2nd floor. The computer-labs page says its computers have been removed, it's now silent study, and it will close for renovations in late summer or early fall. Expect the 3rd floor to be unavailable for part of 2026-27.

Inside the Student Learning Centre

TMU calls the SLC the front door of campus. It holds eight floors of student space, from individual carrels to open collaborative areas. The 7th floor, nicknamed The Forest, has the large Silent Study Room (SLC-720), 30 bookable group rooms and a graduate-only study room (SLC-713).

The SLC also houses Student Life and Learning Support, Academic Accommodation Support, the DFZ Sandbox and the Library's Digital Media Experience (DME) Lab. The DME Lab on the 3rd floor lends cameras and other equipment, runs 3D printing and gives one-on-one digital media help. The Study Lounge (SLC 451) and math hub (SLC 449) have run low-sensory study hours with dim lighting and peer academic coaches. Check Student Life and Learning Support for this term's times.

All SLC entrances are accessible. From Gould Street there's a ramp at the southeast corner, and an elevator runs from street level to the main entrance during opening hours. The SLC closes on Thanksgiving, October 12, 2026, and for the mid-year break from December 24, 2026 to January 6, 2027.

Booking a group room

The two buildings use separate booking systems with different rules. Book early in the week before a big deadline, since both fill up.

Textbooks, laptops and other library services

The Textbook Collection holds print textbooks for most undergraduate courses. The Library buys at least one copy where it can, and more for large classes on request. You borrow them at the Circulation Desk for 2 hours at a time while the Library is open. Search the catalogue first, because some titles are also available as ebooks.

The Law Library is on the 4th floor of the Podium building that joins the Library Building with Jorgenson Hall. For Fall 2026 it's open 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. The Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Medical Library is open only to School of Medicine learners, staff and clinical faculty.

The Library Collaboratory, with 3D printers and a laser cutter, is for graduate students, faculty and research staff. Undergraduates can attend its workshops and events. Drop-in research help runs weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. between September 8 and November 27, 2026.
