Course requirements

Ontario students need English (ENG4U), one science and one math. The science can be Biology (SBI4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) or Physics (SPH4U). The math must be Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U).

Windsor wants at least 70% in English and 70% in your science. For the math, you only need to earn the credit. There is no set minimum mark. First year includes anatomy and mechanics, so Biology is a sensible pick. Plan with our course planner.

The average you need

Windsor's kinesiology page lists a mean average of 85%. That is the average of admitted students, not a cut-off.

Windsor's own Fall 2025 report shows a different number. New Ontario students in the whole Faculty of Human Kinetics had an admission average of 82.2%. About 38% came in under 80%, and 12.1% came in between 70% and 75%. The faculty number includes other programs, so the two figures measure different groups. Treat 85% as a safe target and confirm with Windsor.

No essay or interview

Windsor's kinesiology page lists no supplementary application, essay, interview or Casper test for high school students. Your grades decide your file.

Windsor's Fall 2025 report notes that students with averages under 70% are admitted on factors other than marks. That applies across the university and is rare.

What you study

The degree is a four year honours BSc in Kinesiology and Health Studies. First year includes Health and Wellness (KINE 1000), Mental Skills Training (KINE 1110), Functional Anatomy I and II (KINE 1650 and 1660), Mechanics of Human Motion (KINE 1800), Ethics (KINE 2250) and Human Performance (KINE 2100).

You can add a Certificate in Human Factors and Ergonomics or a Certificate in Coaching. A thesis option and study abroad are also listed. Research training runs through Windsor's Centre for Human Performance and Health.

Co-op option

Kinesiology co-op is optional and paid. You apply in the winter term of first year through mySuccess. You need a year one cumulative average of 60%, with no more than one grade below 50%, and must keep that standard to stay in.

Co-op students take a non-credit job readiness program called Transform in the winter of first year. The degree then runs five years with about one year of full-time paid work. Work terms fall in the summer after year two, the fall of year three, and in some cases later summers. Internships are also listed for students outside co-op.

Planning your Grade 12 year

Start with the two marks Windsor checks: English and your best science. Both need 70%. If you take more than one science, Windsor only needs 70% in one of them, so pick the one you are strongest in.

Take MHF4U or MCV4U even if math is not your best subject. Windsor only needs the credit, with no minimum mark. Still, a weak math mark can drag down the average Windsor uses, so do what you can to keep it up.

Your overall average matters most. Since the program lists an 85% mean and the first entrance award starts at 85%, that number is worth aiming for. Send your OUAC application by mid-January so your marks can be reviewed in the first rounds.

Is co-op worth the extra year?

Co-op adds a fifth year, but the work terms are full time and paid. You also finish with about a year of career related work on your resume, which helps when you apply for jobs or later programs.

The bar to get in is low: a 60% year one average with no more than one grade under 50%. The bigger choice is whether you want to stretch your degree. If you plan on a professional program right after graduation, compare the timing before you apply in the winter of first year.

Careers

Windsor says 98% of its human kinetics graduates are employed six months after graduation. It lists roles such as registered kinesiologist, ergonomist, fitness trainer, coach and teacher.

It also lists careers that need more school, such as physician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and chiropractor. Those programs set their own rules, so check their prerequisites early.

Tuition for 2026-27

Windsor posts tuition through a fee estimator, not a printed table. The estimator says it shows the approved fees for the 2026-2027 academic year. You choose Undergraduate, Human Kinetics, full time and your fee category to see the amount per term.

Co-op students pay a co-op fee on top of tuition. Use the estimator to add residence and a meal plan for a full budget.

Entrance scholarships

For 2027-2028 entry, Windsor guarantees awards to students coming straight from high school. An 85% to 89.99% average earns $1,000. A 90% to 94.99% average earns the $10,000 Dean's award. A 95% or higher average earns the $16,000 President's award.

The larger two renew if you keep an 85% average. You must start full time the year after high school. Windsor's separate award application opens January 1 and closes April 30, and you do not need an offer to apply.

Residence

Windsor's 2026-27 residence fees run from $9,000 to $11,768 for fall and winter, by hall and room. Meal plans are mandatory. Windsor notes these fees have not yet been approved by its Board of Governors.

Fall fees are due August 15 and winter fees December 15. Add these to tuition to see the real yearly cost.

For parents

Windsor's course list is light. Only one science is required, and the math needs only a credit. That makes kinesiology here a good option for students who are strong in one science.

Aim for the 85% mean, which also unlocks the first entrance award. Read the Windsor admissions overview and our Windsor guide.
