UWindsor Campus Guide: Main and Downtown Campuses, U-Pass and Parking

UWindsor's main campus is at 401 Sunset Avenue on the city's west side. A small downtown campus holds the School of Creative Arts in the restored Armouries and the School of Social Work in Windsor Hall. If you're a full-time undergraduate, your fees include a U-Pass for unlimited rides on regular Transit Windsor service from September to April.

The main campus

Most teaching buildings, the Leddy Library, the residences, the Rodzik Dining Hall and the Toldo Lancer Centre are on the main campus at 401 Sunset Avenue. Windsor describes itself as a medium-sized campus where residences sit a short walk from classes, food, the library and recreation.

Windsor runs student-guided walking tours Monday to Friday at 1 p.m., except holidays and December. Saturday tours run at 1 p.m. in October, November, March and May. Allow about an hour and a half. Book two weeks ahead if you'd like to speak with a professor in your program; that isn't offered on Saturdays.

The downtown campus

Check your program before you choose where to live. These downtown buildings are the ones a first-year student is most likely to need.

  • If you're on a residence meal plan and have downtown classes that keep you off main campus for at least five hours, you can register for boxed meals.
  • A downtown garage parking permit exists for 2026-27, but it's waitlist-only.

Your U-Pass

All full-time undergraduates get the U-Pass through the University of Windsor Student Alliance (UWSA). In 2026-27 it gives unlimited rides on regular Transit Windsor city service from September 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027.

The pass lives in the Umo Mobility app. You get a benefit code from the UWSA and load it in Umo, or use the 16-digit bar code if you have a smart card. Don't share your account or code, even onto a second device. Misuse can suspend the pass and cost you a full semester's fee to reinstate.

  • Pick up your code in person at the UWSA office, Monday to Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or Friday 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring student ID or government photo ID. Nobody else can collect it for you.
  • The fall opt-out window is September 1 to 30, 2026. You're opted out automatically if you live outside Transit Windsor's service area; other requests are reviewed case by case.
  • Windsor's 2025/26 ancillary schedule lists the U-Pass at $153.03 a semester for first-year and new students and $98.23 for returning students, plus a $2.50 administration fee. You still pay the administration fee if you opt out.

Getting around on Transit Windsor

Transit Windsor posted new schedules for several routes in September 2026. Its route table names Route 418X, between the East-End Terminal and Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, as serving the University of Windsor. Use Transit Windsor's trip planner or the Where's My Bus tool to find the route from where you live, and check its detour page before exams.

Parking as a student

All 2026-27 student parking permits were sold out when we checked. You can join the waitlist in the parking portal. Your licence plate is your permit, so there's nothing to pick up. If you live in residence you also need to submit a student parking application.

Without a permit, the campus garage costs $3 an hour up to $10 a day, cashless. Student permits also work in the Education and Leddy lots after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.
