UWinsite Student and Brightspace: UWindsor Course Registration and Dates

UWindsor uses two systems once you've accepted your offer. UWinsite Student is the student information system, where you register for courses, see your timetable and exams, and pay fees. Brightspace by D2L is the learning system, where your course materials, assignments and grades live. You sign in to both with your UWinID@uwindsor.ca address and UWin Account password.

Which system does what

Brightspace has been Windsor's learning system since January 2023. Once you're registered in a course, it appears in Brightspace's course selector.

Steps after you accept your offer

Windsor's next-steps page sets out the order for new undergraduates. Each step depends on the one before, so don't leave them to the last week.

  • Review your offer and note any conditions and their deadlines, then accept by the date in your offer letter.
  • Set up multi-factor authentication. You need it before you can extend your UWin Account or sign in to UWinsite Student.
  • Extend your UWin Account and set up your UWindsor email. After that, Windsor sends everything to that address.
  • Check that your UWinsite Student homepage is active. For Fall 2026 it activated in mid-May.
  • Upload a photo for your UWinCARD when the email invitation arrives. Residence students collect the card at move-in check-in.
  • Attend Head Start orientation and Welcome Week before classes start.

How registration worked for Fall 2026

Registration happens in two stages. First, the shopping cart opens so you can plan and validate classes. Then registration opens and you enrol at your appointment time, which you can find in UWinsite Student.

Windsor's next-steps page said first-year registration would start at the end of May 2026. The Registrar's table gave June 9. Follow the Registrar's dates and your appointment time. Fall 2027 dates aren't published yet.

  • Four or more courses at a time makes you full-time. Three or fewer makes you part-time, with different student association fees.
  • Courses on your waitlist or in your shopping cart aren't charged until you're registered.

Read the delivery mode before you register

The Days, Times and Room fields tell you how a section is delivered. Click the class link to read its enrolment and meeting notes too.

Brightspace tips

Windsor's Centre for Teaching and Learning maintains the Brightspace help site.

  • Sign in at brightspace.uwindsor.ca. Current Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari work; Internet Explorer doesn't.
  • The Brightspace Pulse app is good for notifications. Windsor recommends a browser for quizzes and assignments.
  • Can't see a course you're registered in? Check the Brightspace help site, then open a ticket with the course code.
  • Contact your instructor if you need another quiz attempt.
