Course requirements
Ontario high school students need English (ENG4U) and Advanced Functions (MHF4U). Windsor strongly recommends Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U). International students need Grade 12 English and Advanced Functions, with Calculus and Vectors strongly recommended. No Grade 12 computer science course is required.
First year includes three calculus or algebra courses, so MCV4U is worth taking even though it is not required. Plan your Grade 12 year with our course planner.
Minimum, co-op and competitive averages
Windsor sets two floors. Your overall average must be at least 70%, and your math courses must also average 70%. For co-op the overall floor is 75%, with a 70% average in all the math courses you attempted.
The program page also lists a competitive average of 86% for Ontario students and 82% for international students. That is the number to aim for, not the minimum. Windsor's Fall 2025 report shows an 86.5% admission average for new Faculty of Science students from Ontario high schools. It does not break out Computer Science on its own, and Windsor does not publish a Computer Science acceptance rate. Our University of Windsor acceptance rate page covers what it does share. Degree options and specializations
Windsor offers a three year General degree and a four year Honours degree. You can add specializations in Artificial Intelligence, Game Development, Multimedia, or Networks and Security. Windsor says the program is more hands on than most, with a faculty to student ratio of 1 to 20.
Windsor reports a 94.1% employment rate for graduates six months after they finish.
First year courses
The program page lists these first year courses: COMP 1000, COMP 1400, COMP 1410, MATH 1020, MATH 1250 or MATH 1260, MATH 1720 or MATH 1760, and MATH 1730. That is three computer science courses and four math courses.
Because so much of first year is math, the 70% math average rule at admission makes sense. Students who struggled in MHF4U should expect first year to be hard.
If your math marks are weak, the best fix is in high school. Take MCV4U, review functions over the summer and use first year tutoring early. If you miss the co-op floor at admission, ask Windsor whether you can enter co-op later, since the program page only states the high school entry rule. Strong first year marks also keep your options open if you want to switch specializations.
Co-op
Computer Science co-op at Windsor uses flexible work terms of four, eight or 12 months. You need a 75% admission average and a 70% average in your math courses to start in co-op from high school.
For May 2026 to April 2027, Windsor's undergraduate co-op fee is $485.00 for each of 8 terms for domestic students. International co-op fees are higher, and the fee estimator lists $601.00 a term for international Computer Science co-op students.

Fall 2027 dates
Windsor's admissions FAQ tells Ontario high school students to apply through the OUAC by January 15 for the fall term. The FAQ is written for Engineering and does not print the year, so for Fall 2027 plan on January 15, 2027. Your school sends your grades through the OUAC.
Entrance award applications through UWinAward open January 1 and close April 30. Compare other schools on our Ontario university application deadlines page.

Tuition for 2026-27
Windsor's fee estimator shows approved 2026-2027 fees per term. For one full time fall term in Computer Science, base tuition is $4,602.35 for Ontario students and $18,750.00 for international students. Two terms come to about $9,204.70 and $37,500.00 by our arithmetic.
With incidental and society fees, the estimated fall term total is $6,341.68 for Ontario students and $21,593.92 for international students. Those totals include once a year charges such as the bus pass and health plans, so the winter term is lower. The estimator notes that fees can change.

Scholarships
Windsor gives automatic entrance scholarships to students coming straight from high school, based on their top six final and interim Grade 12 U or M courses. An average of 85 to 89.99% earns the $1,000 Blue and Gold award, once. 90 to 94.99% earns the $10,000 Dean's award and 95% or higher earns the $16,000 President's award. Both larger awards are paid over up to 8 installments if you stay full time and keep an 85% scholarship average.
The UWinAward application for other awards opens January 1 and closes April 30. You do not need an offer to apply.

First year residence
Windsor guarantees a residence room to domestic first year students who apply and pay the residence deposit by the guarantee date. That date is set each year to match or follow the earliest date the OUAC lets universities ask Ontario students to reply to an offer. After it, you can still apply, but rooms depend on space. International students are not covered by this domestic policy, so they should apply early.
For 2026-27, Windsor lists residence fees for fall and winter together of $9,000 for a Laurier Hall single, $9,500 for a Cartier Hall double, $11,000 for a Cartier Hall single, $11,250 for an Alumni Hall single and $11,768 for a Rodzik Hall single. Meal plans are required and cost extra. Fall charges were due August 15, 2026 and winter charges December 15, 2026. Windsor notes the rates were not yet approved by its Board when posted.

How to budget for a year
Add up three things: tuition, fees and housing. An Ontario student living in a Cartier Hall double would pay about $9,204.70 in base tuition and $9,500 for the room, plus incidental fees, a meal plan, books and a laptop. Co-op students add $485.00 a term in co-op fees. A 90% average cuts that bill by $10,000 over four years through the Dean's award.

Advice for parents
For parents: the 70% minimum is a floor. The 86% competitive average is the better target, and co-op needs at least 75%. Watch math marks closely. The large scholarships at 90% and up are worth a lot here. Read our University of Windsor guide and compare other schools on our computer science requirements across Canada page.
