Program application guide
Rotman Commerce 2027: Admission & Supplement Guide
Rotman Commerce is a four-year U of T Bachelor of Commerce entered through the Faculty of Arts & Science admission category at St. George. For Fall 2027, applicants need English and Calculus, a mandatory $52 Kira supplement with written and video responses, and separate application and document deadlines. An admitted first-year student must then meet published course and credit conditions for guaranteed upper-year admission. That progression structure is central to the decision; it is not an admission probability.

Apply to the correct U of T admission category
Rotman Commerce is not a casual transfer available from any U of T program. High-school applicants select U of T's Faculty of Arts & Science at St. George and choose Rotman Commerce as the admission category. The category provides the first-year route into the upper-year BCom specialists.
Applicants with previous post-secondary study face separate restrictions, and Rotman says external transfers are not generally accepted. Confirm the applicant category before relying on high-school requirements. Use the Join U of T portal for documents and status after applying.
Interpret the Ontario requirements correctly
The current Ontario page requires ENG4U and MCV4U. Rotman recommends a mid-to-high 80s overall average or above and highlights English and Calculus in review. That is planning evidence, not a guaranteed cutoff or an acceptance-rate formula.
Build the academic tracker from the applicant's own curriculum page. Record required courses, grade transmission, repeated or non-day-school context, and any document request. Do not transfer Ontario course codes to another curriculum without the official equivalency.
Use the four controlling Fall 2027 dates
Rotman recommends applying by November 7, 2026 and submitting the supplement and documents by December 1, 2026 for earlier consideration. The final application deadline is January 15, 2027. The final supplement and document deadline is February 1, 2027.
Ontario high-school applicants remain eligible through the regular deadline, but a later complete file may miss earlier rounds. Treat application, supplement, documents, residence, awards, and offer response as separate rows. Save confirmations and recheck the applicant portal.
Complete the mandatory Kira supplement
Every applicant completes a $52 Rotman Commerce Supplemental Application through Kira Talent. The public page identifies short written and video responses. The supplement is considered with the academic record and is designed to surface communication, teamwork, leadership, community, and interest in business.
The Join U of T portal publishes the live detailed format and offers unlimited practice sessions. Prepare evidence and delivery skills rather than copied scripts. Verify the device, browser, camera, microphone, connection, privacy notice, and accommodation process before starting.
Resolve the December 1 and December 2 conflict
The live Important Dates and Supplemental Application pages both name December 1, 2026 as the recommended early supplement and document date. One current-cycle viewbook sentence says December 2. This guide follows the two dedicated live owners and records the viewbook as conflicting evidence.
A planning guide cannot override an applicant portal. If the portal shows a different personalized date, preserve a screenshot or message and ask Rotman Commerce for clarification before the earlier date.
Plan the first-year guarantee before accepting
Upper-year admission depends on RSM100H1 at 67% or higher, ECO101H1 and ECO102H1 each at 63% or higher, one accepted calculus route at its published minimum, and at least 4.0 completed credits. Economics marks cannot be averaged. One repeat of a required course is currently permitted.
These are minimum progression conditions rather than target grades. Map prerequisites and course load, identify academic support, and understand the consequence of missing a condition. Use the calendar for the entering cohort because course codes and policies can change.
Compare the three specialist routes
After first year, students choose Accounting, Finance & Economics, or Management. Each specialist combines required RSM and non-RSM work. The Management specialist also offers optional focus areas that can appear on the transcript.
Compare required quantitative work, elective flexibility, professional pathways, focus availability, class sequencing, and the minimum cumulative GPA. A specialist title does not secure a particular employer or graduate program.
Budget the Year 1 to Year 2 tuition change
First-year students pay ordinary Arts & Science tuition because they have not yet entered the upper-year specialist. Beginning in second year, Rotman Commerce is a deregulated program with higher fees. Full-time program-fee treatment and part-time course-fee treatment depend on the credit load and freeze dates.
Use the current Registrar schedule for a date-labelled estimate and ACORN for the actual invoice. Include incidental fees, housing, food, transit, books, health insurance where applicable, and summer study. Do not reuse a viewbook's older totals as a Fall 2027 quote.
Evaluate internships without relabelling them co-op
Rotman Commerce provides career coaching, recruiting, clubs, projects, and access to internship opportunities, but the degree is not a mandatory alternating co-op calendar. Students apply to roles and must meet each employer's requirements.
Any employment percentage needs its cohort, survey method, response rate, timing, and definition. Compare the support model with formal co-op programs, then build a backup plan using projects, campus work, volunteering, research, and independent applications.
Compare Rotman with the same fit rubric
Use the Canadian business-program comparison to compare Rotman's admission category, first-year conditions, curriculum, Toronto setting, cost, career model, and flexibility against direct-entry and delayed-entry routes.
The best choice is one the applicant can explain without a universal ranking. Test whether the program remains valuable if a preferred specialist, internship, residence, or career idea changes.
