Course requirements from Ontario
UCalgary asks Ontario students for English (ENG4U) and Advanced Functions (MHF4U). You also need two approved courses and one approved course or option. The two approved courses cannot be phys ed, fine arts or a non-calculus math. Approved courses include MDM4U, MCV4U, a 4U science, ICS4U, CHY4U, CGW4U, a 4U second language and any other 4U course. Approved options include 4M business studies, geography and science courses.
Only one of art, dance, drama or music can count in your average. Two courses from the same subject usually cannot both count, but MHF4U, MDM4U and MCV4U are the exception. Plan your Grade 12 year with our course planner.

UCalgary accepts equal IB and AP courses for every curriculum. All applicants must meet its English language requirement.

The high 80s competitive average
UCalgary lists an estimated competitive admission average of high 80s for the BComm concentrations we checked, including Accounting and Finance. The figure is the same for Ontario and Alberta students. It is an estimate based on recent years, not a guaranteed cut-off, and UCalgary does not publish a Haskayne acceptance rate.
There are two review rounds. Early admission uses four approved Grade 11 or Grade 12 courses, and UCalgary says fewer offers go out early, at a higher average. Standard admission uses five courses, with at least one at Grade 12. After an offer you must finish your Grade 12 courses and keep the average. Check your number with our Top 6 average calculator and see our University of Calgary acceptance rate page.

Student Access and Indigenous admission
UCalgary runs a Student Access Process for Canadian citizens and permanent residents whose access to university was affected by barriers such as financial hardship, illness, disability or discrimination. To use it you must choose it on your application by the deadline and send a personal statement. High school applicants also need ELA 30-1 (or equal) and at least two other approved Grade 12 courses, including the required ones.
Indigenous applicants (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) can be considered through Indigenous Admissions by self-identifying on the application. Students admitted through a pathway must later verify citizenship or membership. Both processes add a review on top of the regular average.

Choosing a concentration
Haskayne lists 11 concentrations: Accounting, Business, Business Analytics, Business Technology Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, International Business Strategy, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Risk Management. A concentration is at least six courses, usually taken in third and fourth year. You can only hold one.
You pick a concentration on your application, but it is not locked. Current students can change it through the Student Centre between October 1 and February 1, and the change takes effect the next year. Haskayne says concentration courses are not restricted and there is no limit on changes. Sample first-year courses include Introduction to Business Analytics, Introduction to Business Skills and Introductory Financial Accounting.

Haskayne co-op
Co-op is optional at Haskayne. You apply once you are a student, through the Elevate system. The winter intake runs October 1 to 31 and the summer intake runs February 1 to 28. You complete a mandatory co-op orientation, then search for a placement.
You need at least two work terms (8 months) and can do up to four (16 months), back to back or spread out. Haskayne reports a median wage of about $25.21 an hour, an average annual salary of about $48,000, and 300 to 400 students in co-op each year. It says over 80% of co-op students work full time within three months of graduating. You stay a full-time student during work terms.

Tuition for 2026-27
UCalgary charges tuition per course. Its calendar table, effective Spring Term 2026, lists Haskayne School of Business courses at $1,066.23 per 3-unit course for domestic students and $3,610.44 for international students. A full year of ten Haskayne courses would be about $10,662 domestic or $36,104 international by our arithmetic.
Courses from other faculties are charged at their own rate, so your real total depends on your electives. Mandatory fees and books are extra. Co-op work terms that are not required for the designation are not charged tuition, according to the same table.

Scholarships
The President's Admission Scholarship pays $5,000, one time, to students with a final admission average of 95.00% or higher. UCalgary's admissions office calculates the average.
UCalgary also runs a separate awards application that opens on October 1, when admission opens. The Prestige Award for incoming high school students has an earlier deadline of December 1, with documents due December 15.

For parents
Haskayne admits on grades. There is no essay, interview or supplementary form for the BComm. Your child needs English and a calculus-ready math, and a high 80s average makes them competitive.
Applying early helps, since early offers go out on Grade 11 marks. Co-op is a choice made after starting, not at application. Budget about $10,662 in 2026-27 domestic Haskayne tuition plus fees and residence.
