Course requirements
Every BComm major needs English (ENG4U) and Advanced Functions (MHF4U) and six Grade 12 U or M courses in total. Most majors, including Accounting, Management, Marketing Management, Real Estate and Management Economics and Finance, also ask for one more 4U math. Calculus and Vectors or Data Management are the usual choices.
Two majors skip the second math: Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Government, Economics and Management. They need four more 4U or 4M courses instead. Map this out with our course planner.

The 80-86% range
Guelph posts an estimated cut-off range of 80% to 86% for each BComm major. It says the range comes from past admission averages. The real cut-off depends on how many people apply, how strong they are and how many spots there are. An average in the range does not guarantee an offer.
Guelph does not publish an acceptance rate for the BComm. Co-op averages often sit above the range. Work out your number with our Top 6 average calculator.

The Student Profile Form
There is no required essay or interview for the BComm. Guelph does offer an optional Student Profile Form, due April 1, 2027. You can describe leadership, activities and anything outside your control that hurt your grades.
Guelph reads it only if your May average is below the final cut-off but within a discretionary range of up to 5%. It is usually used in the last round of offers. A separate form exists for students whose grades were affected by a disability, with the same April 1 date.

Dates for Fall 2027
Guelph's dates page for 2026-27 lists January 15 as the deadline for students in high school, and says later applications are still considered. Scholarship forms and the financial need form are due April 15. Ontario schools send final grades to OUAC by April 22.
You accept your offer on OUAC by June 1, which is also the residence application and $750 deposit deadline. Conditions must be met by July 16. See our Ontario deadlines page.

Majors and the undeclared start
The BComm is an eight semester honours degree of 20.00 credits. You can start in one of nine majors: Accounting, Food and Agricultural Business, Government Economics and Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Management, Management Economics and Finance, Marketing Management, Real Estate, or Sport and Event Management.
You can also start undeclared. If you do, you must pick a major by the end of second semester to get into third semester courses. Undeclared has no co-op option, so apply straight to a major if you want co-op. Sport and Event Management is offered in person and fully online.

The commerce core
Every major shares a core. First year covers Financial Accounting, micro and macroeconomics, Business Mathematics, Introductory Marketing and Introduction to Business. Second year adds Management Accounting, Finance, organizational behaviour, Business Communication and a course on equity and inclusion at work.
Third year has Principles of Responsible Organizations, and fourth year ends with Strategic Management. Business Career Preparation is part of a career readiness program. Students who finish the co-op intro course are exempt from it.
Co-op
Every BComm major has a co-op version. From high school you apply through OUAC and mark the co-op choice. Guelph asks for an 80% or higher average in your U level courses, but says cut-offs vary and may be higher.
If you don't get co-op, you are considered for the regular program on your own. Current first year students can also apply in course. Co-op students take more than 20.00 credits, and the number varies by major. Guelph's funding page lists a co-op fee of $405 per semester, based on 2025-26 figures.
Missed co-op from high school? First year students can apply in course. For fall programs the window opens in September 2026 and closes December 4, 2026, for students with no more than 3.0 credits. For winter programs it opens in January 2027 and closes April 12, 2027, for students with no more than 6.0 credits. Admission is competitive and based on your university average. Every co-op student must pass a non-credit Introduction to Co-operative Education course. Co-op fees are the same for Canadian and international students.

Tuition for 2026-27
Guelph lists BComm tuition for Fall 2026, Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 per term. Ontario students pay $5,282.58 a term, or $10,565.16 for two terms. Students from other provinces pay $5,692.60 a term. International students who start in 2026 pay $27,196.31 a term.
These amounts are tuition only. Compulsory fees are extra. Guelph's funding page, based on 2025-26 figures, lists them at $1,768 to $1,930 a year. It also budgets $1,400 for textbooks.
Living costs add up fast. On the same 2025-26 basis, Guelph lists residence rooms at $7,900 to $11,116 and meal plans at $5,500 to $7,600 a year. Its full estimate for an Ontario student in residence is $25,159 to $35,832 a year. In 2024-25, 7,870 students shared $21.96 million in awards, including $10.8 million in need-based help.

Scholarships
Entrance scholarships need no application. Guelph lists $2,000 for a 95% average or higher and $1,000 for 90% to 94.9%. The Board of Governors' Scholarship is worth $20,000. The President's and Lincoln Alexander Chancellor's Scholarships are worth $42,500 and need an application.
Guelph's two pages disagree on that date. The dates page lists January 22 for 2026-27. The funding page still shows January 23, 2026 from the last cycle. Confirm the Fall 2027 date with Guelph. Registrar's Entrance Bursaries of $4,000 need the need assessment form by April 15.

For parents
The second math matters. A student who drops Calculus and Data Management limits their Guelph BComm choices to two majors. Check this in Grade 11.
The Student Profile Form is optional, but it costs nothing and can help if marks slip in spring. Compare with our Laurier BBA page, the Guelph admissions overview and the Guelph guide.
