University of Toronto tuition and fees
2026-27 costs and 2027 planning
University of Toronto first-year Arts & Science tuition is $6,220 for Ontario residents in 2026-27 at St. George, Mississauga and Scarborough. Other domestic students pay $7,610. International students entering in 2026 pay $66,110. Those amounts cover tuition alone. Your college or campus adds student fees, and housing is separate. Match the fee to your residency and program
Check the program and campus on your offer. The $6,220 Ontario first-year Arts & Science fee applies at all three campuses in 2026-27. Your college or campus adds student fees. Housing is separate. Our University of Toronto guide explains the campus and faculty choices.
Domestic fee categories include Canadian citizens, permanent residents and protected persons. U of T sets a higher rate for a primary home outside Ontario. Studying in Toronto doesn't by itself qualify you for the Ontario rate. If your billed category looks wrong, ask your registrar about the residency rules and exemptions.
The report prints two schedules for 2026-27. Schedule 2 applies the Ontario increase for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027. It lists $6,220 instead of the $6,100 freeze-basis figure in Schedule 1. Check the schedule heading before taking a number.

Plan for the tuition change after first year
First-year Commerce and Computer Science tuition can look like general Arts & Science tuition. The later bill can be much larger. In 2026-27, the upper-year Commerce/Business Administration fee is $16,210 for Ontario residents and $19,870 for other domestic residents. The Computer Science, Bioinformatics and Data Science row is $11,640 and $14,260. The UTM Management row is $12,970 and $15,900. These are current upper-year prices, not a promise for your later years.
Higher program fees can apply once you've joined the program and earned enough credits. Transfer credits count, and U of T warns that some assessments can be retroactive. Ask about the cost before changing your program or campus.
Use the Rotman Commerce guide, UTM Commerce guide and UTSC Management guide for program entry rules. Our U of T Computer Science comparison covers the campus routes. Nursing and Pharmacy have separate entry paths and fee schedules; they aren't covered by the general first-year Arts & Science price.

Read the student fee and insurance lines
New College adds $2,072.13 in incidental and system access fees to tuition. This is its 2026-27 full-time first-year fee, not a U of T average. Incidental fees pay for campus services and student societies. Ancillary fees can cover field trips, equipment or a program activity. Some depend on your courses, so check the final invoice.
Health and dental plans are collected through student society fees. Some societies offer refunds during a limited opt-out window. Having a parent's insurance doesn't make the refund automatic. Check the rules and apply on time. Society rebates happen outside ACORN. Don't deduct a hoped-for rebate from the minimum payment to register.
UHIP means University Health Insurance Plan. International students must budget for it too. New College lists $948 for 2026-27, covering September to August. UHIP is separate from your extra health and dental plan. Paying one doesn't let you remove the other without meeting its rules.

Build the room and food budget together
New College sells room and food together. Its lowest listed 2026-27 package is an economy double in Wilson Hall with Access 10. A single room with Unlimited costs more. Innis lists room charges without a meal plan. Its kitchen access changes how you buy food, but it doesn't make eating free. Compare the St. George residence options before choosing a package.
UTM lists rooms separately from meals. Our calculation gives $9,606 + $5,100 = $14,706 at the low end and $17,120 + $5,825 = $22,945 at the high end. The room figures include the council fee. Full and Plus plan totals already include their $100 CIPE charge. Don't add that charge again. The UTM residence guide explains the housing styles and required steps.
UTSC's first-year plan is required in both Harmony Commons and townhouses. The UTSC residence guide compares those options. Our range uses the lower townhouse double and Harmony single. It excludes the super-single row, whose published total doesn't match its components. Keep a budget for another room you could accept.

Use the worked total as a starting point
For the Ontario student in the example, our calculation is $6,220.00 + $2,072.13 + $14,965.00 = $23,257.13. The first two lines match New College's published academic bill of $8,292.13. The third includes the meal plan, so don't add it again.
That subtotal leaves out books, travel and personal spending. UTM publishes about $1,000 to $2,000 for books in its 2026-27 planning advice. We show it as UTM's estimate and don't add it to a St. George student's bill. Check your own course lists for books and supplies. A laptop or a studio requirement can change your personal budget, but no unsupported allowance is included here.
For an international New College student using the same room package, our calculation is $66,110.00 + $2,072.13 + $948.00 + $14,965.00 = $84,095.13. That includes UHIP and excludes the same personal costs. Neither example assumes you win a scholarship. Add only an award you've received, with its payment conditions.

Pay or defer the minimum before registration closes
U of T normally posts Fall/Winter invoices in ACORN in mid-July. Your minimum payment to register includes unpaid earlier fees plus Fall-term fees. Pay it or secure a valid deferral by your division's deadline. Otherwise your courses can be removed. The table's registration dates belong to 2026; they aren't dates for September 2027.
The current standard remaining-balance deadlines are September 30 for Fall fees and November 30 for Winter fees. An approved government-loan deferral keeps the Fall deadline at September 30 but moves the Winter deadline to January 31. Follow the financial arrangement shown in your account. A monthly service charge of 1.5%, compounded, applies to late balances.
Bank payments can take three to five business days to appear in ACORN. Save the receipt and check that your status changes to Registered. If the payment hasn't appeared near the deadline, contact your registrar with proof. Use our Ontario application deadlines guide for admission tasks. Accepting an offer and registering are separate steps.

An OSAP application alone doesn't defer the bill
OSAP means the Ontario Student Assistance Program. U of T's current guidance recommends applying by June 30 for Fall or Fall/Winter funding. That recommendation has no new intake year attached. To use a deferral, you also need approval for the session, eligible tuition charges and no unpaid prior-session fees. Then request the deferral in ACORN during the allowed registration period.
Check both cards on the ACORN dashboard. The academic card should show Registered, and the finance card should show the student-loan or financial-aid deferral. Keep checking your invoice after that. OSAP tuition payments usually go directly to U of T, but you remain responsible for any balance. A smaller award or a change in aid doesn't cancel the payment deadline. Our OSAP guide covers the wider funding process, and the U of T financial-aid guide covers campus support.

Deposits are credits, but cancellation can cost money
Your admission offer states any required deposit and its deadline. The registrar credits it to tuition. Pay residence deposits through StarRez; they credit housing charges. New College counts them toward the Fall instalment. Don't add a deposit to a full annual total when it already pays part of that bill.
UTM's $350 application payment and $1,650 acceptance deposit are non-refundable and credited toward housing. UTSC lists two $1,000 residence deposits, also credited toward the room bill and non-refundable. Dates come from the housing offer. Read your housing agreement's refund and withdrawal rules before paying.
St. George Arts & Science has a 2026-27 Category 1 program-fee refund schedule. By September 7, it reverses 100%, minus $61.75. September 8 to 21 uses a $409.75 minimum charge. September 22 to January 24 allows 50%. January 25 onward has no refund, with stated exceptions. Dropping one course within the program-fee load need not reduce tuition. Academic drop dates differ from refund dates. Cancelling your courses doesn't cancel UTSC residence. Notify housing separately in writing.

Put confirmed awards into the funding plan
Most U of T entrance awards don't need an extra form. Some need the Awards Profile or a separate application. The Scholars Program offers $10,000 in first year and doesn't renew. Eligible high school applicants are assessed automatically. You still need an award offer. Check its value, full-time study rules and payment timing.
UTAPS means University of Toronto Advanced Planning for Students. It offers grants for eligible costs left after aid. For 2026-27, you must apply through Need Navigator and send any required documents. Citizenship, government aid, course load and program rules apply. For Ontario Fall/Winter students, the last date is February 18, 2027. That isn't the date for September 2027 entrants. Read the U of T scholarship and bursary guide for campus support, and our scholarship application guide for planning steps.

What remains planned or in conflict for 2027-28
Approved 2027-28 domestic tuition isn't published in the fee schedules checked on October 13, 2026. The tuition report says later upper-year fees will go for approval in Spring 2027. It already shows planned international amounts for 2027 entry, including $68,750 for Arts & Science. Those are information-only figures and can change. Recheck tuition after spring approval and UTM residence rates in February 2027. The room/meal pages checked here still price 2026-27.
Some current sources also need care. UTM's older admissions tuition table is labelled 2025-26. Its newer admitted-student page gives a broad housing estimate below the highest detailed room/meal combination. Innis has 2026-27 room-range prose above 2025 payment rows. UTSC lists $18,022 for a super-single plus $6,800 for meals, but displays $24,910. Our calculation is $18,022 + $6,800 = $24,822, a difference of $88. Ask the residence to confirm that row before paying. Keep your own offer and final ACORN invoice as the documents for your actual charges.
