USask Psychology admission requirements for Fall 2027

For Fall 2027, USask Psychology BA and BSc applicants use the College of Arts and Science's 70% five-subject minimum. Ontario applicants need Mathematics of Data Management 4U or Advanced Functions 4U. You can apply from high school. The degrees' university course requirements differ, and later honours selection is a separate competitive process based on university work.

Begin Psychology through Arts and Science from high school

USask's Psychology page says you can enter from high school. The degree sits in Arts and Science, where the ordinary school-entry rules apply. You do not need to invent a separate Psychology school average above that college minimum. You should still decide what kind of undergraduate plan you want. A BA and BSc study related questions, but the work around the Psychology major is different.

The program page lists a three-year BA, a four-year BA and honours variants. Its BSc list shows a four-year degree and honours variants. Do not assume every degree length exists in both forms. Discuss the choice with college advising when you begin. If later graduate study is a goal, note that the college does not recommend three-year degrees for that purpose. Each future program decides its own entry requirements.

Use the USask university guide for the wider campus decision. The Arts guide and Science guide explain the broader degree families. Here, the question is how to prepare for Psychology's degree courses and later research. A high school offer does not itself place you in honours, graduate clinical training or a future supervised project.

Check the school maths rule before choosing BA or BSc

Ontario's official Psychology view names Mathematics of Data Management 4U or Advanced Functions 4U. U means university preparation. It also says maths-deficient admission can be considered, with a plan through the college. That permission is not a statement that the degree needs no quantitative work. Keep the entry requirement separate from the prerequisites of courses you hope to take after admission.

For Saskatchewan, the selector lists Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30. It encourages Foundations for a BA or an undecided plan and Pre-Calculus for a BSc. Those recommendations help explain the degree choice without changing the allowed school subjects. Ontario has its own published list. Do not translate a recommendation for another province into an extra compulsory Ontario course that the selector does not name.

Grade 12 Biology is not named as a universal subject in the checked ordinary Ontario entry view. The BSc's later Biology and other science courses still need their own preparation. Look at those requirements before dropping a senior science. Our school course planner can help organize both stages. Ask about an accepted way to clear any gap rather than assuming admission to the college opens every class.

Use the five-subject assessment and the correct kind of average

The confirmed 2027-28 college minimum is 70% on the school assessment. It is not an average for last year's Psychology class or an acceptance rate. The selector says offers continue while seats remain available. A minimum and a rolling process cannot predict a personal result. Check the school credential, subjects and required documents as well as the mark you hope the university will assess.

USask's calculation has an English slot, a maths slot and three other approved subjects. It caps the latter group at two natural sciences, two social sciences or humanities, and one fine or performing art. The exact approved lists include qualifications and some college-only subjects. Do not simply select your best five or average every Psychology-related school class. An Ontario Top 6 calculation serves a different university pattern.

Which marks are used also changes during Grade 12. The published timeline uses Grade 11 results through February 1, then results through Grade 12 Term 1 until June 30, using predictors where needed. After June 30, it uses Grade 12 work. Final conditional marks verify your offer condition rather than being recalculated for admission consideration. Keep any condition in the actual letter alongside the course and document checklist.

Compare the actual quantitative and science work in each degree

The current four-year BA plan meets quantitative reasoning within its Psychology major. It still includes methods and statistical study. College writing, Indigenous Learning and breadth courses also remain. That is why a BA should not be selected on the assumption that it removes data from the subject. You will need to evaluate research and explain what evidence can and cannot show about behaviour.

The BSc has a named maths sequence and a larger science context. Its current plan lists Biology, Chemistry, computing and Physics courses among its cognates, meaning supporting study outside the major. Those courses make first-year preparation important. They do not silently become new universal high school admission prerequisites. Compare the full sequence, including the required courses for later study, before choosing the BSc because of its label alone.

Psychology also includes different areas of interest, such as cognition, social behaviour and development. Read the course descriptions and methods you would use in those fields. Both degree outlines belong to the 2026-27 catalogue. They are useful planning evidence but do not guarantee a Fall 2027 timetable. Use the calendar and course offerings that apply when you register, especially if you change degree type after starting.

Treat honours as a later competitive research route

The dated Psychology honours plan normally needs at least 60 university credits. It names courses in introductory Psychology, statistics and methods. It also needs a cumulative weighted average of at least 70% and a major average of at least 80%. The first is your overall university average under the college's rules. The second concerns your major. These are university results, not new Grade 12 entry cutoffs.

The current notice includes a May 1, 2026 application date and a 2026-only exception for students with 54 credits. It also refers to a May 1, 2027 supervisor checkpoint for later thesis registration. These labels must stay with their own cohort and stage. They do not establish the honours deadline or credit exception for a student who will only begin university in Fall 2027.

Research preparation takes planning. The listed methods courses lead toward labs and the honours thesis, which also needs a supervisor. A college offer does not reserve that place. Ask the department about the rules for your eventual application year and keep an ordinary degree plan in view too. The point is to choose useful courses now, not to promise yourself a future research outcome from a school average.

Follow the right credential and dated school-entry deadlines

IB applicants use the route for a full Diploma or for individual IB courses. The current Psychology selector gives 24 as its minimum and uses SL/HL maths wording alongside the older Math Studies label. The central IB page assesses a full Diploma out of 45 and explains its own conversion table. Confirm a modern maths syllabus with admissions, and submit predicted or final records directly rather than treating the self-assessment tool as an application.

The Psychology page explicitly labels the undergraduate start September 2027. Domestic applications are due July 15, 2027, with documents due August 1. International applications are due May 1, with documents due June 1. Use the university's own application account and the tasks assigned for your school history. Any language evidence is a separate check. A degree interest or an unofficial grade calculation does not complete the file.

The checked ordinary school-entry policy lists no required Psychology essay, portfolio, interview or Casper. Other applicant groups can need different evidence. Honours has a later process too. Keep those tasks apart. Use the Canadian university dates guide to plan other school choices. Read your own offer and task list for the terms you must meet. They also show any later request for new marks.

Distinguish research experience, co-op and future costs

The college's work-experience policy lists Psychology among subjects with research or field-based learning. It names co-op for other specific programs, rather than promising the same stream to every Psychology entrant. Look at undergraduate course and research opportunities for your own plan. A clinical graduate internship is not an undergraduate placement assigned by a school offer. Read the level of study before comparing work terms across program websites.

In the current honours route, you can develop a research question and work on a project with a supervisor. That may help with later study plans. It does not reserve a graduate place or a paid job. Ask which options fit your stage and what skills they need. Make a budget that works without an unconfirmed placement. Revisit those options when you reach the right year of your degree.

The Psychology cost example and central tuition page use 2026-27 rates. Charges depend on the type and number of classes, so the example is not a fixed future BA or BSc bill. Approved Fall 2027 tuition remains unconfirmed in the checked sources. Read USask financial aid and housing information. Recheck future fees, old honours notices and legacy IB wording on November 1, 2026, then check again before course selection.
