Identify the BSA rather than applying to a college name alone
The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture is an applied science degree. USask offers BSA majors in fields such as Agronomy, Agricultural Biology, Animal Science, Crop Science and Soil Science. Their later courses examine different parts of food production and the environment. Start by choosing the credential and the kinds of questions you want to study. The college's broad name does not tell you the subject list for every degree it offers.
Animal Science in the BSA is different from the separate Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience. Agricultural Economics in the BSA is also different from the separate Agribusiness degree. The latter has a different school science pattern in the 2027-28 policy. These names can look close in a search result. Read the complete degree name before choosing the application or deciding that a senior science can be dropped.
The University of Saskatchewan overview covers the wider school. The ordinary Science guide concerns a different college entry route. A BSA is not simply that ordinary BSc with agriculture electives. This guide owns the BSA school-entry question, using Agronomy's live curriculum and dated application table alongside the published BSA policy.

Keep both Biology and Chemistry in the school plan
Ontario BSA applicants need Biology 4U and Chemistry 4U. They also need Mathematics of Data Management 4U or Advanced Functions 4U. U means university preparation. The two sciences are not a choice between Biology or Chemistry. The 2027-28 BSA rule names both. A strong general average does not make the missing-subject question disappear, so check the actual subject set before comparing marks.
Saskatchewan's list names Biology 30, Chemistry 30 and Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30. Use the official view for your own province. An Arts and Science maths-only entry summary does not cover this degree's two required sciences. Keep each degree's list in the course planner. That helps when comparing the BSA with ordinary Science, Kinesiology or a different agriculture degree. Check each full set before dropping a school subject.
The IB selector names Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at Standard or Higher Level, with a minimum of 24. It does not list Math Studies in this BSA view. USask's central IB page explains the full-Diploma assessment and records process. Confirm modern maths syllabus names rather than guessing an equivalent from an older label. Individual IB courses and a completed Diploma follow different assessment routes.

Make a plan for the one-subject deficiency allowance
The BSA policy allows admission with one subject deficiency, which must be cleared before second year. The current selector repeats that condition. It does not say you can omit several required subjects or enter the regular route below the published average. If you need the allowance, ask the college how the missing preparation will be completed and what it means for your first-year course sequence.
Admission to the degree and registration in a particular class are separate checks. Agronomy's first year includes Biology, Chemistry and maths study. A missing school subject can therefore matter before the formal second-year deadline arrives. Ask which university courses you could take immediately and which would need to wait. Also check whether a preparatory course counts toward the degree, rather than assuming every way to clear a gap earns the same credit.
Keep that plan with your offer conditions. A broad allowance is not a personal approval of an unusual school record. It also does not replace the English proficiency check where required. If you are still choosing Grade 12 subjects, completing the published set preserves more course options than planning around an unconfirmed exception. The university should assess the particular gap before you rely on it for your application or budget.

Use 70% with USask's five-mark formula
The 2027-28 policy confirms a 70% minimum for the BSA. The ordinary high school selection described there uses academic assessment. This is not an entering-class average or a predicted admission probability. The live selector says applications are considered while places remain available. Keep the subject requirements and the complete file in view, rather than assuming that a minimum mark reserves a place.
USask's general school calculation uses one English, one maths and three approved subjects. The latter group has limits of two natural sciences, two social sciences or humanities, and one fine or performing art. Use the actual approved list when checking a possible set of marks. Ask admissions how prerequisites and your record fit the assessment instead of assuming every science mark or a sixth course will be added.
The calculation uses completed Grade 11 results through February 1. It uses results through Grade 12 Term 1 until June 30, with Grade 11 predictors where needed, then Grade 12 results after June 30. Final conditional marks verify the offer condition; the page says averages are not recalculated for admission consideration. Our Top 6 calculator can support other applications, but it is not the BSA's five-mark calculation.

Apply by May 1 and complete the June 1 document task
Agronomy's table names September 2027 as the start term. Apply by May 1, 2027 and send documents by June 1. Both domestic and international applicants use those dates. They are earlier than the domestic July deadline in ordinary Arts and Science examples. Each program has its own dates. Use the BSA row for this degree, even when a friend applying to another USask program has more time.
Use USask's own application account and choose the intended program. Follow the tasks for your school record. If you have already studied at college or university, you may be in a different applicant group. The checked regular school-entry policy lists no required BSA essay, portfolio, interview or Casper. Special or mature entry needs its own evidence. Read your own tasks and any personal request from admissions.
Keep the application date separate from the document date and any award application. The Canadian university dates guide helps compare other schools. Submit the record and language evidence the university asks for, then read any conditions in the decision. No offer date is invented here. Recheck a different major or credential's instructions if your intended choice changes before you submit.

Read the science, communication and elective parts of first year
Agronomy's example first year includes agriculture courses alongside BIOL 120 and 121, CHEM 112 and maths. The current degree plan lists a maths choice among MATH 104, 110 or 125. Read the course prerequisites and ask which choice serves the later plan you want. An approved school maths subject does not mean every university maths course is equally open or equally useful for your chosen route.
The sample also shows the breadth of agriculture. Its introductory courses address plant and soil sciences, animal agriculture, food science and the wider food system. Communication is part of the scientific work too. The program is not a course only in farming techniques or a promise of a particular job. Compare later crop, soil or animal subjects before deciding which BSA major fits your interests and the kind of evidence you enjoy working with.
A sample timetable is not the same as the required course list. The admissions page marks an example music course as an elective, while the catalogue provides the approved options. Do not treat every class in the sample as compulsory. The catalogue plan is 2026-27; confirm the calendar and actual offerings for Fall 2027 before registering. Advising can help keep your first-year choices connected to the major and any later change of direction.

Compare the diploma, research experience and later work routes
The Agronomy page offers a two-year diploma as well as the four-year BSA. It describes the diploma's degree-level courses as a ladder into the degree. That is a stated pathway for this credential, not evidence that every agriculture certificate provides the same transfer. Ask the college how your course record, continuation steps and intended major fit the pathway before choosing it as a shorter first stage.
The college also describes a First Year Research Experience in which students collect data and present research posters. Later Agronomy examples include crop-production study and supervised research. These are academic experiences, not a guaranteed paid co-op placement attached to a school offer. Ask about any current work route and its entry conditions before budgeting around employment. A project, a credit course and a job offer are different commitments.
An interest in animals may also lead you to later Veterinary Medicine. A BSA offer or an Animal Science major does not reserve a veterinary place. The professional program has its own eligibility and application. Choose the undergraduate degree for the study you would value if that later plan changes. The current major and diploma lists help you compare actual credentials rather than treating all animal or agriculture programs as one route.

Use current costs as a dated reference and set the next checks
The program estimate and central tuition page use 2026-27 rates. They do not establish approved Fall 2027 tuition. The type and number of classes affect charges, and residency changes the applicable rate. Books, student fees and housing have their own assumptions. A possible summer job, later research role or scholarship is not confirmed first-year funding. Keep the period and course load with every number used in your budget.
The USask funding section and residence information cover broader cost planning. For admission, first confirm the credential, then the Biology, Chemistry and maths set. If a subject is missing, obtain the college's actual completion plan. Apply by May 1, 2027 and complete the documents by June 1. Recheck future fees and unresolved curriculum equivalents on November 1, 2026, then check the new timetable before course selection.
