Course requirements
The only named course is a Grade 12 math. Saskatchewan students need Pre-Calculus 30, which USask recommends, or Foundations of Mathematics 30. Ontario students need Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) or Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and USask recommends Advanced Functions.
USask says applicants may be admitted with a math deficiency, but it must be cleared before second year. It is far easier to take the course in high school. Check your plan with our course planner.

How USask works out your average
USask uses five marks. For Ontario students that is one 4U English, one 4U math and three other approved subjects. You can count no more than two natural sciences and no more than two social sciences or humanities. Saskatchewan students use the same pattern with 30 level courses.
The minimum admission average for the BComm is 80%. Indigenous applicants with averages from 70% to 79.9% are also considered, and the program has seats set aside for Indigenous candidates. USask does not publish an acceptance rate or a past cut-off for commerce. Track your grades with our Top 6 average calculator, then work out your five-course USask average.

Early admission and rolling offers
If you apply between September and February 1, USask uses your Grade 11 marks. An offer then comes with a condition that you keep a minimum average in your final Grade 12 marks. If you apply after June 30, USask uses only Grade 12 marks.
Commerce applications are considered until the deadline, but offers go out on an ongoing basis until all seats are filled. That means a late application could miss out even if your average is above 80%.

Supplementary application
USask lists no essay, interview or supplementary form for the BComm. Your average and your math course decide your file.
You apply on USask's own system, not OUAC. If English is not your first language, you may need to prove English proficiency.

Dates for Fall 2027
The Fall 2027 deadline is May 1, 2027. Documents are due June 1, 2027.
Do not wait for May. Seats fill on a rolling basis, and the main scholarships need an admission application by December 1. See our Canadian deadlines page.

First year and choosing a major
The BComm is a four-year direct entry program if you take ten classes a year. Every new student takes COMM 111.3 and its lab. First year also includes introductory classes such as MATH 121.3, Mathematical Analysis for Business and Economics, and you meet an English writing requirement.
You apply for a major in January of second year. Majors are Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management. Edwards says entry to several majors is competitive and based on your university average up to the end of term one of second year. So first-year grades matter a lot. You also need a 60% yearly average to stay in good standing.

Co-op
Edwards co-op is for third-year BComm students. You do not apply from high school. Recruitment runs from August to December, and placements start in January.
The standard co-op is two four-month work terms back to back, so eight months, with a possible four-month extension. Edwards reports average pay of $23 to $27 an hour. Students write academic papers and a consulting report at the end of the final work term.

If your average falls short: the Certificate in Business
Edwards also offers a Certificate in Business. It is eight courses and takes about ten months full time, or longer part time. You can take it in Saskatoon or Prince Albert. High school students need Grade 12 standing and a 70% admission average. Math is recommended but not required.
For 2026-27 the certificate costs $1,064.10 per three-credit course. Its Fall 2027 deadline is also May 1, 2027. It is not open to international students. It is a smaller, separate credential, so ask Edwards how its courses could count if you later apply to the BComm.
What a major looks like
USask shows sample classes for each major. In Finance they include COMM 203, Introduction to Finance, and COMM 371, Applied Security Analysis. In COMM 371 students help manage the investment account of the Student Managed Portfolio Trust.
Later courses such as COMM 429, Personal Financial Planning, cover tax, estate planning and building a full plan for a client. Other majors have their own sample classes on the admissions site. Read them before second year, since you pick your major then.

Tuition for 2026-27
USask lists 2026-27 tuition for Edwards at $10,110 for Canadian students and $48,932 for international students. Full-time student fees add $1,331.66 for fall and winter. USask suggests budgeting $1,500 to $2,500 a year for books and supplies.
USask notes that tuition varies with the type and number of classes you take. The figures above assume a normal full-time year.

Scholarships
USask gives a $5,000 entrance scholarship to about 600 high-achieving students each year. You are considered automatically based on your admission average if you apply by December 1.
The larger Best and Brightest awards need a separate scholarship application by December 15. They include the Edwards Undergraduate Scholarship at $36,000 over four years and the George and Marsha Ivany President's First and Best at $40,000. Selection looks at grades, leadership and community work.

For parents
The posted 80% is a floor, and offers stop when seats are gone. Help your child apply in the fall of Grade 12 so Grade 11 marks can earn an early offer.
December 1 matters more than May 1 if scholarships are part of the plan. Also read our USask admissions overview.
Keep an eye on first-year grades too. Entry to several majors depends on the university average, so a strong start in COMM 111.3 and math pays off later.
