USask Class Registration: Plan Ahead, Access Dates and Drops
At USask you register for fall and winter classes in PAWS, the student portal. From early May you can search the classes on offer, and from mid-May you can see your registration access date, the earliest time you can register. Use the Course and Program Catalogue to check your program's requirements, then save draft schedules with the Plan Ahead tool. First-year engineering students register in a pre-set block instead.
Need to sign in to PAWS? Go to the official PAWS page.

Plan your schedule
- Check required courses in the Course and Program Catalogue.
- Search for classes by term. To find online classes, use Advanced Search and type WEB under Schedule Type or Attribute; to find classes off the Saskatoon campus, pick the campus.
- In Plan Ahead, create a plan, add courses or specific sections, and save it. You can also pull in plans made by an academic advisor or from Degree Works.
- Plan Ahead doesn't check prerequisites, restrictions or reservations, so review those yourself.
- Keep a list of back-up classes, and record each class's CRN, subject, course number, section and times, including linked labs and tutorials.
Engineering blocks and Learning Communities
First-year engineering students register in a block of pre-scheduled classes, so they don't build a timetable. The College of Engineering shares the block options before your access date.
If you're in a Learning Community with block registration, Plan Ahead can't add the block. Register for the block first, or check the Learning Community's schedule and plan around those set times.
Dropping a class
If you decide not to take a class you registered in, drop it before the deadline for registration changes. Otherwise you may still pay tuition or face an academic penalty. USask lists registration and withdrawal deadlines for each term, and Student Central can help with registration questions.
