USask Arts admission requirements for Fall 2027
For Fall 2027, ordinary USask Bachelor of Arts entry requires a 70% five-subject average and approved maths. Ontario's published choice is Mathematics of Data Management 4U or Advanced Functions 4U. The college can consider a maths deficiency with advising. You apply through Arts and Science, then build a degree around your chosen Arts subjects.

USask BA entry: what the 70% rule includes
An Arts degree isn't a reason to ignore the college's named maths requirement.

Use the BA to choose the questions you want to study
USask's Arts subjects sit in a college that also teaches Science. You can explore humanities such as English, History or Philosophy, and social sciences such as Economics, Sociology or Political Studies. These fields aren't interchangeable versions of one course plan. Read how they use texts, evidence and arguments. Choose a few subjects you would want to keep studying beyond a first-year survey class.
The college says students often choose a major after first year. That gives room to explore, but the first courses still need a purpose. An English plan might begin with reading and composition, while a different subject can lead toward data, languages or policy analysis. Compare the next courses each opening class leads into. An elective that sounds appealing isn't always the prerequisite your possible major needs.
The USask university hub covers the wider school. The separate Science entry guide concerns BSc planning in the same college. Shared entry rules do not make the degrees identical. This BA guide owns the Arts subject-choice question, its school maths condition, and how ordinary entry differs from later honours or a specialist performance degree.

Keep the maths requirement even if you prefer humanities
The 2027-28 policy names approved maths for ordinary BA entry. Ontario's current curriculum selector gives Mathematics of Data Management 4U or Advanced Functions 4U. U means university preparation. A BA label does not remove that subject check. The selector allows the college to consider a maths deficiency and directs the student to advising. That is a route to discuss, not an instruction to leave a gap without a plan.
Saskatchewan applicants can use Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30. The selector suggests Foundations for a BA or an undecided plan. It suggests Pre-Calculus for a BSc. Both are allowed choices. Keep that distinction when comparing degrees. It does not add a second required Ontario maths course. Later maths-based classes can still have their own course requirements, even if you meet the college's school-entry rule.
The average-calculation page also lists Calculus among allowed Ontario maths. A course used in an average has a different role from a required entry subject. If your course is absent from the program view, ask admissions to check it. Keep that question beside your subjects in the school course planner. The university decides whether your own record meets its rule.

Calculate five marks rather than copying an Ontario Top 6
USask asks for one English mark, one maths mark and three other approved subjects. Among the latter subjects, its formula permits at most two natural sciences, two social sciences or humanities, and one fine or performing art. The approved list matters as well as the number of courses. A school credit can count for graduation without fitting the university's chosen assessment group.
Ontario's English averaging list includes named English routes and French Immersion 4U. Its other subject tables contain specific limits and some college-only entries. Don't assume a business or physical education course counts for an Arts application simply because it appears elsewhere on the page. Start with the Arts-eligible pattern and ask about any locally developed subject. A Top 6 result is useful for other schools but answers a different calculation.
The policy also changes the marks used during the school year. It uses completed Grade 11 results through February 1. From February 2 to June 30, it uses marks through Grade 12 Term 1, with Grade 11 predictors where needed. After June 30, it uses Grade 12 marks. Final results verify a conditional offer's stated condition; they are not recalculated for admission consideration. Read your own offer rather than assuming a later update automatically triggers a new decision.

Choose the degree length with later study in mind
The current college policy distinguishes a three-year BA at 90 credit units from a four-year or honours degree at 120. The college does not recommend the three-year route for graduate-study plans. A shorter degree can serve other purposes, but it should be chosen with those limits in view. A later master's or professional program owns its own admission rules; the BA offer doesn't settle that future decision.
Honours is a later route after you have done substantial university study. It is not a higher Grade 12 stream for every BA subject. Each department sets its own terms. Ask which classes you need and how to apply. A research place is not reserved by your school offer. You can work toward honours from first year and keep a sound ordinary degree plan alongside that goal.
The 2026-27 English BA plan also shows study outside the major. Writing, Indigenous Learning, quantitative reasoning and breadth requirements shape the degree. The exact way they are met depends on the program. A BA isn't made entirely of English or History classes. Use the then-current program outline when registering, and ask advising how an early elective meets a requirement instead of counting any interesting class twice.

Keep ordinary BA assessment separate from special categories
The ordinary 2027-28 high school route uses academic assessment. No general BA essay, interview, portfolio or Casper is listed for that route in the checked policy. The same document contains other categories with different evidence. Home-based learners can need a portfolio and statement, while mature applicants have their own package. Those instructions should not be assigned to every current Grade 12 applicant.
Music and Fine Arts also need care. The policy's separate BA Music entry adds a theory placement test. Other performance or studio credentials have their own requirements. Read the full degree name, since a Bachelor of Music and an ordinary BA are not the same application. This page's general subject and average summary does not waive an audition or other assessed task where the actual chosen program requires it.
An IB applicant should use the full-Diploma or individual-course route that fits the record. The current BA selector gives 24 as the minimum and retains older maths labels. USask's central IB page assesses a full Diploma out of 45 and requires records to reach admissions directly. Confirm modern syllabus equivalents rather than guessing from Math Studies wording. Other countries use their own credentials, and English proficiency remains a separate check where required.

Apply using the dated row for your program and applicant group
The English BA page explicitly labels its start term September 2027. Domestic applications close July 15, 2027, with documents due August 1. International applications close May 1, with documents due June 1. These are dated program instructions, not a guessed year attached to an annual day. If you choose an assessed or otherwise exceptional program, use its own published row and extra-material instructions.
Apply through USask's account and choose the intended college and program. Follow the document checklist for your own schooling, including any language evidence. Earlier college or university study can move you into a different applicant category. The high school average is not a substitute for transfer assessment. Keep the application date, document date and any scholarship task separate instead of treating a paid form as a completed file.
Our Canadian university deadlines guide can help compare the dates with other schools. The selector says applications are considered while places remain available, but it gives no personal offer forecast. Use the published minimum as an eligibility check and choose subjects you would want to study if admitted. Keep copies of the actual instructions and read the conditions when an offer arrives.

Compare upper-year work options and year-labelled costs
Arts work experience depends on the subject. The college lists internship classes in English, Economics, Linguistics and Political Studies, among other named routes. The English department identifies ENG 496.3 Career Internships for upper-year majors and honours students. That is a course-based opportunity with its own process. It is not a promise that every BA applicant enters a paid co-op stream from high school.
Your degree can also include research or study abroad. Look at how those options fit the academic plan and what approvals they need. A later placement or exchange can change course sequencing and living costs. Ask about eligibility when you reach that stage, using the instructions for that actual year. Do not count a possible job as confirmed money for first-year tuition or assume an older placement description reserves a role for you.
The program estimates and tuition page use 2026-27 rates. They do not confirm approved Fall 2027 costs. Fees depend on the classes and study load as well as residency. The hub's financial aid section and residence information cover the next budget questions. Recheck future rates and legacy IB labels on November 1, 2026, and use the new calendar before registration.
