Course requirements

UNB's admission requirements tool lists the Business area of study for both Fredericton and Saint John. For Ontario it asks for English 4U and Math MHF4U, each with at least 60%. You add two Group 1 electives and one elective from Group 1, 2 or 3, each also at 60% or more.

Group 1 includes academic courses such as SBI4U, SCH4U, ICS4U, CIA4U (economics) and other 4U math such as MCV4U and MDM4U. Group 2 is business: BAT4M, BBB4M and BOH4M. So one business course can count, but only in the last slot.

UNB says MCB4U and MGA4U are also accepted for math, with a 70% minimum. Those are older course codes. Most Ontario students will use MHF4U. Map your plan with our course planner.

The average you need

The published minimum admission average is 75%. UNB does not publish the average of admitted BBA students or a competitive range.

UNB works out your admission average from the courses required for your program. If you have more acceptable electives than it needs, UNB uses the ones with the highest grades. If a required Grade 12 course is still in progress, UNB uses the Grade 11 prerequisite to estimate the grade. UNB does not accept mid-term grades.

Aim for 80% or more if money matters, because UNB's scholarship promise starts there. Check your standing with our Top 6 average calculator. UNB counts five courses, so look at your best five.

No essay or interview

Neither campus lists a supplementary application, essay, interview or video for the BBA. Your grades decide.

Your bigger choice is the campus. Fredericton's Faculty of Management is a larger business school with concentrations in areas such as accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, logistics and marketing. Saint John's Faculty of Business is smaller and lists majors such as economics, human resource management, accounting, digital business design and marketing. Dates for Fall 2027

UNB's important dates page lists dates without a year. It shows March 1 for scholarship applications and March 31 as the general application deadline for the fall term. May 15 is the deadline to accept your offer and pay the deposit.

That page still mentions an April 3, 2026 deposit draw, so these look like last year's dates. Expect the same pattern for Fall 2027, but confirm with UNB. UNB says all programs accept fall applications after the deadline while seats remain. Do not count on that for scholarships.

Compare dates across your list on our Canadian university deadlines page.

What first year looks like

Fredericton's BBA page says the first half of the program teaches business basics, and the second half lets you tailor the degree. You need 120 credit hours for the BBA. Honours needs 126 and a 3.0 GPA. Every Fredericton student also completes ADM 4191, a no credit professional development requirement.

Saint John's calendar shows a sample first year of five courses per term. In fall you take BA 1501 How Business Works, ECON 1013 microeconomics and MATH 1853 Math for Business I, plus electives. In winter you take BA 1213 Introduction to Financial Accounting, BA 1605 Business Decision Analysis I and ECON 1023 macroeconomics.

Co-op on each campus

Both campuses run BBA co-op, and on both you apply after you start. In Fredericton, the calendar says co-op is open to qualified students who have finished one year. It has eight study terms and three four-month work terms, normally over four calendar years. Entry is competitive and needs a GPA of at least 3.0 in the term before you apply for jobs. A work term fee applies to each term.

In Saint John, the calendar says spots are limited to students with a B- average or higher after first year. The co-op page says you must keep a B- (2.7 GPA) throughout. Most students start their first work term in the winter of second year. You also complete a workshop and a mock interview, and you secure your first job yourself.

Scholarships

UNB says it gives a 100% guaranteed scholarship to high school students with an 80+ scholarship average, if you submit the scholarship application. Once admitted, you apply in your UNB account by March 1. Offers go out by April 30.

Your scholarship average is your admission average plus bonus points for enriched courses such as AP or IB, if you score 75% or more in them. One to three enriched courses add one point. UNB does not round: 79.9% stays 79.9%.

For parents

This is a grades-only admission with a clear 75% floor. The bigger decisions are which campus suits your child, and whether co-op is worth the extra GPA work in first year.

Domestic tuition is $11,020 for 2026-27 on either campus. The scholarship guarantee at an 80+ scholarship average only applies if your child submits the March 1 application. See our University of New Brunswick guide for residence and campus life.

How the BBA compares to other UNB options

Business sits beside other direct entry programs at UNB. If you like numbers and code, compare our UNB computer science guide. If you're weighing a professional route, see UNB engineering.

Fredericton BBA students can also apply to the Faculty of Law in third year for the joint BBA and Juris Doctor, which saves one year of study.

Saint John also runs a Bachelor of Applied Management. That degree is for college diploma holders, not Grade 12 students. If you start at college first, it can turn your diploma into a university business degree later.
