Cut-offs: 70% last year, low to high 70s expected
Each engineering program page shows last year's cut-off and an expected cut-off. Last year's cut-off was 70% for Comprehensive, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Software and Nuclear Engineering. The expected cut-off is the mid-70s for most, the high 70s for Mechatronics and the low 70s for Nuclear.
Ontario Tech says admission is competitive and the needed average changes each year. Meeting the minimums does not guarantee an offer. It does not publish an Engineering acceptance rate. Our Ontario Tech acceptance rate page covers what it does share. Check your marks with our Top 6 average calculator.

Choosing a program or Comprehensive Engineering
You apply straight to a program, such as Software or Mechanical Engineering, with its own OUAC code. If you are undecided, Comprehensive Engineering (DEU) gives you a general first year. Before year 2 you apply to move into Automotive, Electrical, Energy, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Nuclear or Software Engineering.
Ontario Tech says that move is competitive. You are not guaranteed your first choice and may be placed in another engineering program. Most programs also offer a five-year Bachelor of Engineering and Management.

No supplementary application
The engineering program pages list no supplementary application, interview or Casper test. Ontario Tech selects students on school marks, the subjects taken and performance in the courses that matter for the program. Preference goes to the strongest applicants.
Every applicant must show English proficiency. That can be your first language, three years of full-time study in English, or an approved test score. AP scores of 4 or more and Higher Level IB scores of 5 or more can earn up to 18 credit hours of transfer credit.
If a disability has affected your marks, Ontario Tech lets you ask to be considered on that basis through Student Accessibility Services.

Direct-entry co-op
Most engineering programs have a direct-entry co-op option with its own OUAC code, such as DCW for Software Engineering. Ontario Tech says the minimum average for co-op is normally 80%, and exact cut-offs depend on applicants and space. If you are not admitted to co-op, you are considered for the regular program.
Co-op can give you up to 20 months of paid work before you graduate. For 2026-27, Ontario Tech lists a one-time co-op entrance fee of $754.23, a one-time career readiness workshop fee of $754.23 and $754.23 for each work term.

For parents
Ontario Tech Engineering admits on Grade 12 marks. Your child needs five named courses, including Calculus, Chemistry and Physics, with a 70% math and science average and no mark under 60%. Expected cut-offs sit in the 70s, but co-op normally needs 80%.
If your child is undecided, Comprehensive Engineering keeps options open, but the move into a program after first year is competitive. If your child already knows the field, applying straight to it avoids that second step. Compare other schools on our engineering requirements across Canada page and read our Ontario Tech guide.
