A collaborative degree with Durham College
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) is offered in partnership with Durham College. Professors from both schools teach the program together. Ontario Tech says all students stay in one place, the North Oshawa campus, for all four years.
You apply through OUAC with the code DHN. Graduates can write the NCLEX-RN and must meet the College of Nurses of Ontario's rules to register. The program page lists careers such as registered nurse, health administrator, health policy analyst and health data analyst. The degree takes four years of full-time study and starts each September.

The 85% cut-off
Ontario Tech publishes a cut-off. Last year it was 85%, and the expected cut-off is 85%. It says the average needed changes each year. It looks at your marks, the subjects you took and how you did in subjects that matter for nursing.
Students with a university degree can get bonus points added: 3% for a 60% to 69.9% degree average, 6% for 70% to 79.9%, and 9% for 80% or more. Work out your own number with our Top 6 average calculator.

Supplementary application and Casper
The program page lists no supplementary application, essay, interview or Casper test for high school students. Your grades decide.
The only extra writing is for the big scholarships. The Chancellor's, President's and Founder's awards need an essay and letters of support by February 18, 2027.

Dates and the early deadline rule
Apply on OUAC by January 15, 2027. Decisions for Fall 2027 start in January 2027. Ontario Tech lists nursing as an early application deadline program.
That matters if you get a conditional offer. Your courses must be done by June 30, 2027. You can't take summer courses to raise your marks for nursing. Documents are due July 9, 2027. See all dates on our Ontario deadlines page.
First year and clinical placements
First-year courses include Foundations of Nursing, Health Assessment, and Anatomy and Physiology. A first-year course on information technology helps you with the laptops and software used in the program.
You start clinical placement in January of first year. Ontario Tech has about 50 partner sites, from hospitals to public health. The program page says students build up more than 1,000 clinical hours. Clinical groups are 8 to 10 students. Nursing classes are often 50 to 60 students, though intro classes can reach 250.

Labs and the program map
Students practise in a 30-bed simulation centre with mannequins that show breathing, heart sounds and blood pressure. You can give medications, including by IV, in a safe setting.
The program had a major change approved, so the faculty posted new maps for 2026-2027. Year one students can email the first-year advising team with questions.

Staying in the program
Getting in is only the first step. To stay in, you must keep a 60% average in your required nursing courses and a 60% overall average. You can't fail more than one clinical course, and you can't fail the same clinical course twice.
Most classes run in the daytime, with some evening classes. The basic program is full time. In some cases students can study part time, and students who already have a degree may be able to take a lighter course load. Talk to an academic adviser first.
Students who studied nursing at another university can ask for credit for courses that match Ontario Tech's. Ontario Tech also says students with jobs and families have finished the program with good planning and support. If you have been out of school for years, it suggests taking university prep courses before you start.

Co-op and internship
The program page lists clinical work, an internship, a practicum and research as its experiential learning. It does not list co-op. The FAQ says the program hopes to give you a final-year clinical internship, which can be anywhere in Canada or even abroad.
You arrange your own travel to placements. Durham Region Transit serves most sites.
