MyOntarioTech, Canvas and First-Year Course Registration

Once you've accepted your offer and paid your tuition deposit, MyOntarioTech becomes your student account. You use it to register for courses, check fees and see your grades. Your courses themselves run in Canvas at learn.ontariotechu.ca. Both use your student number (100 followed by six digits) and your network password, and the Ontario Tech Mobile app can register you too.

How to register for first-year courses

Registration doesn't happen on its own. You choose your sections, and it only counts once you submit them in MyOntarioTech or the app.

  • Find your program map in the Registrar's Course Registration Guide by start term and faculty. If there isn't one, ask your academic adviser for a custom map.
  • Check your registration status in My academics. The page shows your student status, any holds and your earned hours.
  • Build up to six mock schedules with Plan ahead. Skip this if your program gives first-year students a block schedule or a pre-designed schedule.
  • When your window opens, accept the registration contract, then add each lecture with its linked labs and tutorials and select Submit.
  • Confirm your schedule, note your fee deadlines, and check your faculty's software requirements.

2026 first-year registration windows

First-year students register based on 0 to 23 earned hours and the first letter of their last name. These are the windows for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 courses. Ontario Tech hasn't published the 2027 windows yet. Log in 30 minutes before your time.
