University of Guelph admission requirements for 2027
Ontario high school applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and six Grade 12 U/M courses, including ENG4U and every prerequisite for the intended program. Guelph's estimated cut-off ranges are planning references based on prior admission cycles—not guaranteed admission thresholds. The final result depends on the applicant pool, available space, completed prerequisites, and any required supplementary information.

Guelph's own visible deadline page still lists the 2026 cycle, so applicants must verify every program, form, document, scholarship, and offer-condition date when the university publishes its Fall 2027 calendar.

Does Guelph require a supplementary application?
Most programs are assessed without a general mandatory supplementary application. Guelph offers an optional Student Profile Form (SPF) for applicants who want to describe activities, leadership, citizenship, or circumstances that affected their academic record. Guelph says the SPF can be considered when the May admission average is within up to five percentage points of the final cut-off, but submitting it does not guarantee admission.
The Background Information Form (BIF) is mandatory for Landscape Architecture and Turfgrass Management applicants. Guelph's dedicated forms page now confirms February 1, 2027 for both BIFs and April 1, 2027 for the SPF and SIF-D. Its broader Next Steps page still shows 2026, so use the more specific current supplementary-form page and watch for the official pages to be reconciled.
When does the University of Guelph send out acceptances?
Guelph's current guidance says admission offers are released on an ongoing basis from late January to mid-May. Early review can use completed and in-progress Grade 12 U/M courses together with completed Grade 11 U/M courses. Later rounds use more Grade 12 results. Landscape Architecture decisions are normally concentrated from late April to mid-May because the BIF is part of the review. For the 2027 cycle, OUAC says Ontario high school applicants who met the January deadline can expect an admission response by May 28, 2027. Applicants should rely on their portal and official email for the actual decision.
How Guelph evaluates repeats, alternative courses, and OUAC choices
These current rules answer common application questions that are easy to miss when applicants look only at a program's estimated range. They do not replace the conditions written in an actual offer.
Repeated courses
For the current admission cycle, Guelph says it uses the highest reported grade when a course is repeated. The optional SPF also lets applicants explain a repeat.
Night, summer, and correspondence courses
Guelph says reported grades from correspondence, night-school, and summer-school courses are treated the same as day-school grades.
OUAC choice ranking
The order of an applicant's OUAC choices does not affect Guelph admission, residence, or scholarship consideration.
Multiple Guelph choices
Applicants are considered for every Guelph program choice and may receive more than one offer when admissible to multiple choices.
Login after applying
Ontario high-school applicants who apply through OUAC do not receive a U of G login after applying. Applicants outside Ontario or with prior post-secondary study receive login details for document submission.
Conditional offers
Offers remain conditional on the diploma, six required Grade 12 or 4U/M courses, the final average stated in the offer, and English evidence when requested.
Does the University of Guelph offer Nursing?
Guelph's current official undergraduate directory does not list a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or another undergraduate Nursing major. Applied Human Nutrition, Bio-Medical Science, Human Kinetics, Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, and One Health are distinct programs—not RN-qualifying nursing degrees. Applicants searching for Guelph nursing admission requirements should compare accredited nursing programs at institutions that actually offer one.
Guelph transfer and English requirements
College applicants normally need at least one year in a suitable two- or three-year diploma. Degree-transfer applicants normally need at least 2.0 completed credits, plus the cumulative average and high-school prerequisites for the intended program. Transfer applicants are not admitted directly to co-op.
Guelph normally requests English evidence when an applicant's primary language is not English and the applicant has fewer than four years of full-time study with satisfactory progress in an English-language school system. Verify the live test table before booking because accepted tests and score scales can change.
International and transfer applicants can also use the Canadian credential evaluation guide to plan transcripts, translations, and third-party evaluations.
Guelph co-op admission and veterinary medicine
Co-op cut-offs are often higher than a program's published estimated range. An applicant who is not admitted to co-op may still be considered automatically for the regular version of the program, where one exists. The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is not a direct-from-high-school program; prospective students first complete at least two years of a full-time undergraduate degree, including the required courses, and then apply through the separate DVM process.
