Guelph WebAdvisor, Student Planning and CourseLink Explained

WebAdvisor is still the University of Guelph's student system in 2026-27. You use its Student Planning tool to plan courses, register, drop and join waitlists, and its Account View to see your fees. CourseLink, Guelph's D2L Brightspace learning system, is where your registered courses run. New first-year students on the Guelph campus picked courses on July 9 or 10, 2026, depending on program. Guelph hasn't published Fall 2027 selection dates yet.

Which system does what

Guelph has run Ellucian Colleague as its student information system since the late 1990s, with WebAdvisor as the student interface. A Student Information Systems Refresh project is adding new tools, but WebAdvisor remains the place to register. You sign in to both systems with your university email, your central login password and multi-factor authentication.

First-year course selection windows

These are the 2026 windows for new first-year students on the Guelph campus. Engineering (B.Eng.) students don't pick first-year courses, because Guelph registers them automatically. Guelph-Humber first-years chose on July 10, and Ridgetown students on June 18.

How registration works in Student Planning

Planning a course isn't the same as registering. You add courses to your plan, then pick a section for each one, even if there's only one section. The Register button won't work until a section is planned. When your window opens, you can register for fall and winter at the same time. Register fall first if a winter course needs a fall prerequisite.

The fall and winter timetable appears on WebAdvisor in mid-June. On busy days, Guelph may place you in a WebAdvisor queue with an estimated wait time before you can reach Student Planning.

  • Full section? Click Waitlist. If a seat opens, Guelph emails you and you have until 11:59 p.m. the next day to register yourself.
  • Check every section before joining a waitlist, because the left panel shows only six at a time.
  • Prerequisite and instructor-consent waivers now go directly to the instructor or their designate. Guelph doesn't notify you when one is approved, so follow up.
  • For course advice, contact the academic adviser listed for your program in the registration guide.

Paying fees and staying full-time

Guelph takes payment through online banking, using the payee UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH STUDENT FEES and your student ID as the account number. It doesn't accept credit cards, debit, cash or e-transfers. International students can pay through PayMyTuition. Once you select courses, you're registered and financially responsible for the account.

Since Summer 2026, you're a full-time undergraduate at 1.50 or more credits a semester, and most courses are 0.50 credits. Tuition is a flat rate at 2.00 credits or more. After the drop deadline, a mark is recorded for every course whether or not you finish it.

Staff can't discuss your record with parents unless you give consent. You can submit the Release of Academic Information and Release of Financial Information forms in WebAdvisor.
