UNB Application Portal vs MyUNB
The UNB application account and MyUNB are separate. Undergraduate applicants create the application account with a personal email to submit and monitor an admission file. After admission, they use the UNB login ID and seven-digit student number from the application account or acceptance letter to activate a student IT account. That account opens MyUNB and student systems for email, registration, financial information and courses.

Choose the system by the task
Keep access to the application account through the admission process. UNB says the account lets an undergraduate applicant start, save and submit an application, update personal information, see the application status and review outstanding-document details. An admitted applicant also uses it to respond to the offer, pay an applicable deposit and download the official acceptance letter.
MyUNB is the intranet reached with an activated UNB IT account. It is not a replacement login for the application account. UNB identifies MyUNB and the connected student systems as the route to UNB email, Microsoft 365, Student Planning & Registration, financial information, D2L Brightspace, library access and other student services.
| Task | System to use |
|---|---|
| Start, save or submit an undergraduate application | UNB application account |
| Check an undergraduate application status or outstanding-document detail | UNB application account |
| Respond to an undergraduate offer and make the directed deposit payment | UNB application account; follow the payment route shown for your applicant category |
| Download the undergraduate acceptance letter | Application account: open the application, then Decision History |
| Find the UNB login ID and seven-digit student number after admission | Application account or official acceptance letter |
| Activate UNB email and student access | UNB IT account activation, then MFA |
| Open UNB services and internal links | MyUNB Intranet |
| Plan and register for courses | Student Planning & Registration, reached after activating the student account |
| Access course sites | D2L Brightspace through the activated UNB account |
Use the application account until the admission file is resolved
After submission, watch the personal email used for the application and return to the application account. UNB says it will notify undergraduate applicants which documents are required and how to submit them. International applicants are specifically told that outstanding-document details appear in the account. Do not assume that every file has the same upload option or document route.
Official transcripts generally must come directly from the sending institution. UNB also gives campus-specific admissions contacts and special instructions for MyCreds records. Some programs require supplementary information; the public supplementary-forms page identifies items that belong under Supplemental Items and Documents for particular programs. Follow the instruction attached to the exact item instead of uploading an extra document to an unrelated field.
- Save the application submission and payment confirmations.
- Check the status and each outstanding-document instruction in the application account.
- Match the transcript route to the sending institution and campus instructions.
- Check whether the chosen program requires a supplement, reference, resume or other item.
- Continue checking personal email and the application account after the file appears complete.
Move to the student account only after admission
For an undergraduate offer, UNB directs applicants back to the application account. The Action Required area is used to accept the offer and continue to the applicable deposit route. The downloadable official letter is under Decision History. Read the letter and conditions before paying or activating anything; domestic and international payment routes differ.
The application account is still distinct from the student account. UNB says the login ID and student number appear in the application account and acceptance letter. To activate IT services, the student enters the seven-digit number, the login ID without @unb.ca and their birth date. They then accept the technology policy, create a password and challenge questions, set privacy choices and select a UNB email address.
MFA is required for services including MyUNB, email, Teams and OneDrive. When signing in, UNB says to use the institutional login in the form UNBloginID@unb.ca. That may differ from the readable UNB email address selected during activation.
Send the problem to the office that owns it
For an undergraduate application, missing record or admission condition, contact the admissions office for the campus on the file. For a missing login ID or student number, UNB directs students to the Registrar's Office or IT Service Desk. For activation, password, MFA or MyUNB sign-in trouble, use the IT Service Desk.
Before contacting IT, confirm that the username is the UNB login ID followed by @unb.ca rather than the chosen email address. UNB also suggests signing out of other Microsoft accounts, clearing browser cookies and cache, trying a private window or using a different browser. If an unexpected MFA request appears, deny it and contact the IT Service Desk. UNB says it will never email asking for your login ID or password. As a practical safeguard, do not include passwords or verification codes in a help request.
- Name the system: application account, account activation, MyUNB, Student Planning & Registration or D2L.
- Include the campus and program when asking Admissions about an application.
- Describe the visible status or error without including credentials or MFA codes.
- Keep the submission receipt, acceptance letter and any support case response.
Graduate applicants use a separate process and rules
This guide's document checklist and offer steps are scoped to undergraduate applicants. The School of Graduate Studies also uses an application portal, but its workflow is program-specific. UNB says graduate supplemental items appear only after the application is fully submitted; applicants can track reference requests and file status there, and decisions are communicated through the portal or email.
Graduate applicants should use the School of Graduate Studies instructions for transcripts, references, program documents and accepting an offer. After graduate admission, UNB directs the applicant to activate IT services and then use MyUNB for planning, registration, financial details, personal information and library access. Do not transfer an undergraduate document rule or deposit instruction to a graduate file.
