UNB Residences: Fredericton and Saint John 2026-27 Fees
UNB has residence houses on both campuses. In Fredericton, most undergraduates live in traditional-style houses grouped as renovated (Aitken, Lady Dunn, Joy Kidd, Tibbits and Neville-Jones) or classic (Bridges, Harrison, Lady Beaverbrook and Mackenzie), plus Neill House. In Saint John, there are the Beckett, Sir James Dunn and Mackay residences. For 2026-27, Fredericton rooms cost $5,720 to $9,785 a year before the meal plan. You apply after you're admitted, with an $800 non-refundable deposit.

Fredericton room fees, 2026-27
The yearly fee includes $70 in house dues and a $430 communication fee. The $800 application deposit is taken off the yearly fee, and the rest is split between fall and winter.

- Add a required meal plan for most houses: $6,262, $6,462 or $6,712 a year in 2026-27.
- Elizabeth Parr-Johnston Residence is a suite-style building for students in third year or later and graduate students, with an optional meal plan.
Fredericton's traditional-style houses
UNB has eleven co-ed traditional-style residences, plus one all-female and one all-male section. Each house has its own lounges, laundry and house charity.

- UNB's pages disagree on Neill House. The fees page labels it no meal plan required, but the Neill House listing says a meal plan is required. Ask Residence before you budget.
- Neill House has doubles, singles and super singles, with no semi-private or private bathrooms.

- Saint John's yearly fee includes $70 in house dues and a $250 communication fee.
- Saint John residents choose from the same three meal plans, and the campus now runs an all-you-care-to-eat dining program.
How to apply in Fredericton
New students apply online after they're admitted and have activated their UNB IT services. Pay the $800 non-refundable, non-transferable application fee by credit card when you apply. It's deducted from your year's residence fees.
UNB then assigns your house and room. Its application page says students who apply and pay by March 30 get their fall room assignment by June 1. Its important dates page lists April 1 as the deadline for the application fee and June 1 for assignments. UNB adds that residence has had a waitlist by the end of May in recent years, so apply early.
- If you need medical accommodations in residence, register with the Student Accessibility Centre, which sends Residence a recommendation.
- Credits or scholarships on your student account aren't automatically used for the application fee. Tell UNB Financial Services if you want to use them.
