Admissions Planning
Current requirements, averages, supplement, and deadline guide
Queen's University admission requirements for 2027
Ontario applicants need an OSSD and six Grade 12 4U/M courses, including ENG4U and every prerequisite for the chosen program. Queen's publishes the minimum average needed for consideration in the previous September cycle, not a guaranteed Fall 2027 cut-off. Competitive programs also use mandatory supplementary information, and the academic floor can rise with applicant strength and available space.
If by “enrollment requirements” you mean what is needed after an offer, admission eligibility is only the first gate. Ontario students must also satisfy the OSSD and final-average conditions printed in the offer by June 30, meet any course-specific minimums by August 1, send final grades by the stated deadline, and accept the correct program through OUAC. The individual offer and SOLUS record control.
OUAC Group A deadline
January 15, 2027
This is confirmed for current Ontario high school applicants. Queen's program, assessment, document, and award dates can be different.
Average calculation
Top 6; Engineering uses 5
Most programs use prerequisites plus the best remaining 4U/M courses. Engineering uses its five required subjects only.
Current offer pattern
Early December to mid-May
Queen's reviews complete files on an ongoing basis and can use Grade 11 results for an early conditional decision.
Queen's prerequisites and competitive averages
The academic levels below are Queen's latest published minimums for consideration in the previous September cycle. They are historical planning evidence—not promised Fall 2027 cut-offs—and applicants still need the exact prerequisites and any mandatory supplementary assessment.
| Program | Ontario prerequisites | Latest published minimum | Selection note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arts (QA) | ENG4U plus five additional 4U/M courses | Low 80s | Grades; no general mandatory supplement |
| Science (QS) | ENG4U, MCV4U, two of SBI4U, SCH4U or SPH4U, plus two 4U/M courses | Low 80s | All prerequisites count in the Top 6 |
| Computing (QD) | ENG4U, MHF4U, MCV4U, plus three additional 4U/M courses | Mid 80s | Calculus and Advanced Functions are both required |
| Life Science & Biochemistry (QL) | ENG4U, MCV4U, SBI4U, SCH4U, plus two additional 4U/M courses | Mid 80s | A distinct direct-entry code from general Science |
| Kinesiology (QK) | ENG4U, MCV4U, SBI4U, plus three additional 4U/M courses | Mid 80s | Concurrent Education/Kinesiology was in the low 90s |
| Smith Commerce (QC) | ENG4U, MCV4U and one additional 4U Mathematics course, with at least 80% in each | 90+ | Mandatory program-specific Kira supplement |
| Smith Engineering (QE) | ENG4U, MHF4U, MCV4U, SCH4U and SPH4U | Mid 80s | Average uses these five prerequisites; ECE and Mechatronics were high 80s |
| Health Sciences (QH) | ENG4U (minimum 80%), SBI4U, SCH4U, MHF4U or MCV4U, plus two 4U/M courses | Low 90s | Mandatory Kira supplement for the on-campus program |
| Nursing (QN) | ENG4U (minimum 75%), SBI4U, SCH4U, any 4U Mathematics course, plus two 4U/M courses | Low 90s | Current dedicated pages list a mandatory Kira supplement |
Queen's supplementary application: who completes it?
Queen's current dedicated pages require a Kira Talent Supplementary Application for Smith Commerce, the on-campus Bachelor of Health Sciences, and the four-year Bachelor of Nursing Science. The assessment has one written response and one video response, normally takes about 30 minutes, and uses randomly assigned questions that are not shared in advance. Applicants to more than one of these programs complete a separate assessment for each choice.
There is a live source conflict: an older Queen's high-school next-steps page still describes the Nursing supplement as optional, while the current dedicated supplement page and Ontario requirement page call it mandatory. The safe action is to treat it as required, complete the Nursing item shown in SOLUS, and contact Undergraduate Admission if the To-Do List differs. Music and Concurrent Education/Music applicants have a separate audition and interview process.
For a program-specific breakdown, use the Queen's Commerce requirements and Kira guide.
Fall 2027 Queen's deadline status
OUAC has confirmed January 15, 2027 for current Ontario high school applicants, but Queen's has not yet published its complete Fall 2027 program and assessment calendar. The live Queen's page still labels February 1, February 15, March 1, and March 31 as 2026 deadlines. They are useful only as a sequence benchmark and must not be reused as 2027 dates. Apply by the confirmed OUAC deadline, then follow the dates in SOLUS and the refreshed Queen's page.
When does Queen's send offers?
Queen's says it makes decisions from early December through mid-May. Early review can use completed Grade 11 results together with the appropriate Grade 12 course registrations; later rounds use more Grade 12 interim or final results. Applicants who met the January 15 deadline can expect an Ontario-university response by May 28, 2027 under the OUAC schedule. Queen's does not make alternative offers, so every backup program must be listed as its own application choice.
