Course requirements

Ontario students need English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) and Physics (SPH4U). Regina recommends Calculus and Vectors. These courses are used for your final admission average.

Saskatchewan students need English Language Arts 30, Pre-Calculus 30 or Calculus 30, Chemistry 30 and Physics 30. Fransaskois and immersion students can use a French language arts course in place of English. Map out your senior year with our course planner.

The average you need

Regina sets two bands. An average from 70% to 89.99% admits you to General Engineering. An average of 90% or higher admits you straight into the major you choose. Regina does not publish an acceptance rate or a typical admitted average beyond these bands.

If you are missing one required course but have 70% across the other four, you are admitted as an Engineering Qualifying student. Check your marks with our Top 6 average calculator, then average the five courses Regina uses.

Early conditional admission

If you are in Grade 12, Regina can admit you early on a conditional basis. It uses your Grade 11 marks and any Grade 12 courses you have finished. You or your guidance counsellor can email an interim grade report and a list of your current and planned courses.

For Saskatchewan students, the early average is 70% across five courses: one English, one higher level math, and approved math, science, social science or language courses. Every early offer still depends on your final marks. Your official final transcript must come straight from your school board or ministry.

Supplementary application

Regina's engineering application guides list no essay, interview or supplementary form for high school students. Your file rests on your required courses and your average.

Students whose first language is not English may have to show English proficiency. Transfer, CEGEP and IB students have their own guides on the same site.

Dates for Fall 2027

Regina lists March 15 as the early application deadline for the fall term. It says this is the recommended date for the best course choices and is also the entrance award deadline. The final fall deadline is August 15. Final transcripts are due August 1 for students with an early offer.

Regina's scholarships page gives a slightly different entrance award date: March 17, 2027. Apply by March 15 to be safe, and confirm the award date with Regina. Compare other schools on our Canadian deadlines page.

Majors

Regina offers five undergraduate engineering degrees: Electronic Systems, Environmental Systems, Industrial Systems, Software Systems and Energy Systems Engineering. Each is a Bachelor of Applied Science.

Software Systems Engineering, for example, runs nine semesters. It is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board and has its own computer and app labs for its students. You can take it as a regular, co-op or internship degree.

Licensing, study abroad and clubs

Because the degrees are accredited, graduates can register as engineers in training. Regina notes you still need to pass the APEGS professional practice exam in Saskatchewan before full licence.

You can study abroad for a week or a full year. To qualify you need a 70% grade point average, 30 credit hours done and full-time status. Outside class, the Regina Engineering Student Society runs Welcome Week events and a student lounge. Clubs include Engineers Without Borders, IEEE, SAE and a concrete toboggan team.

Co-op and internships

Co-op is optional. It alternates paid work terms with study and gives 12 to 16 months of work by graduation. Finish the required terms and your degree carries a co-op designation. Regina says it was the first co-op program in Western Canada.

Engineering internships are a second choice: one 12 month placement from September or 16 months from May with one employer, for senior students. Regina's pages give two different pay ranges. The software engineering page says $8,000 to $13,000 per semester. The co-op page says $12,000 to $14,000. Treat both as rough guides.

The co-op page also reports an average of $3,200 a month and says 90% of placements are in Saskatchewan. Over a four month term, $3,200 a month comes to about $12,800, which fits the co-op page range. Ask the co-op office for current numbers.

Tuition for 2026-27

Regina charges by the credit hour. In Fall 2026, engineering tuition is $310 per credit hour. With mandatory fees, a five class term of 15 credit hours costs $5,465.40. Students taking 9 or more credit hours also pay a $225.85 health and dental fee in the fall.

Regina's general budget for 2026-27 lists tuition and fees of about $7,650 to $7,850 a year, but that is an average across faculties. Engineering costs more per credit hour than arts. Books run $1,400 to $2,300 a year.

If you live on campus, Regina budgets $6,964 for a four bedroom apartment in Kisik Towers and $7,000 for a full meal plan. That brings a year on campus to roughly $26,000 before engineering's higher tuition.

Scholarships

Every student who applies for fall is considered for an automatic entrance award. No form is needed, and you can receive only one. Regina also offers a Chancellor's Scholarship for high achieving students coming from high school. Its application runs from October 1 to December 15, 2026.

Engineering students can apply for faculty awards such as the APEGS Engineering Prizes, the Stantec Scholarship and the Helen Mary Morris Award for Women in Engineering. Some need no application at all.

For parents

The 90% line matters most. Under 90%, your child starts in General Engineering and picks a major later. That is a fine path, but it is good to know up front.

Regina's late August deadline gives room to apply after other schools reply. Still, the March 15 date is the one for scholarships and course choice. Compare with our engineering requirements across Canada and the University of Regina guide.
