Who runs the program, and where you apply
The U of R's Faculty of Nursing page says the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic jointly offer the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN). It leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The U of R's own SCBScN program link sends you to the joint site, sasknursingdegree.ca.
The official pages disagree on where to apply. The U of R's Ontario nursing application guide says SCBScN applicants apply directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic. The joint program's high school page says to fill out the undergraduate application on the University of Regina's Application Management portal and choose Collaborative Nursing. The U of R deadlines page also lists first year SCBScN applicants under its own nursing deadline. Contact U of R admissions before you apply so your file lands in the right place.

Course requirements
For Ontario, the U of R lists ENG4U, one 4U math from MDM4U, MHF4U or MCV4U, SBI4U and SCH4U, plus an OSSD. Each prerequisite needs at least 70%.
Physics is not required. Data Management counts as your math, which helps if MHF4U is not your strongest course. Plan your timetable early with our course planner, because both SBI4U and SCH4U are required.
The average you need
Neither school publishes a cutoff average. The pages say only that you need 70% in each prerequisite, and that the program is competitive. The joint site says there are often more applications than seats. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission, and seats go to the highest admission averages at each site.
Current Grade 12 students can get early conditional admission. Your competitive average is then worked out from Grade 11 and 12 courses in English, a higher level math, and two more approved courses. The final average needs 70% in each course.
Since no range is published, aim well above 70%. Check your numbers with our Top 6 average calculator.

Choosing Regina or Saskatoon
You can only apply to one site, Regina or Saskatoon, and you choose it on the form. If you're waitlisted at your first choice, you may be offered a seat at the other site.
You must live in your campus city for the whole program. The program has one intake a year, in the fall. It is cohort based with a set schedule and limited flexibility. Placements may need travel outside Regina and Saskatoon.
A bilingual option is also offered. The joint site calls it the only bilingual registered nursing program in Saskatchewan, with half the degree in English and half in French. It needs a separate application.

Dates for Fall 2027
The U of R deadlines page lists February 15 for first year SCBScN applications and March 15 for documents, for Canadian applicants. The joint site shows an application window of October 1 to February 15, with transcripts due March 15. The U of R says you can apply for early conditional admission from September 15 of Grade 12. Neither page gives a year, so confirm the dates for Fall 2027.
High school applicants send two transcripts: one by the deadline and one after final grades. Initial offers go out by email before mid-April. Compare dates on our Canadian university deadlines page.

What the program looks like
The U of R says you begin nursing in Year 1 with chances to work directly with patients and clients. You study anatomy and physiology, Aboriginal health, pharmacology and informatics. The program is approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan and accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing.
The joint site says you can finish the four year degree in three or three and a half years through an early exit option, which adds full-time spring and summer study.
Graduates write the NCLEX-RN licensing exam. The U of R lists careers in hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes, community health, schools, correctional facilities, and First Nation and Inuit health organizations. Graduates of other fields have a separate After Degree Nursing Program, so this four year route is the one for Grade 12 students.

Co-op and clinical placements
The SCBScN pages we checked list no co-op. Your work experience comes through practice education, which is built into the program alongside lectures, labs and seminars. Placements are part of the degree, not optional.
Before your first term, you need a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search and other documents by August 1. You pay for your own travel and parking for placements, and housing may be needed for some.

Tuition for 2026-27
The joint site says SCBScN tuition is similar to other U of R programs and points to the U of R fee pages. The U of R Fall 2026 domestic schedule lists nursing at $310.75 per credit hour. Five classes (15 credit hours) come to $5,300.65 for the term with mandatory fees.
Doubling that for two terms gives about $10,600. That is our estimate from the Fall 2026 schedule, not a U of R figure, and winter rates could differ. The U of R's general 2026-27 cost page shows $7,854.60 for tuition and fees for a typical student, but says fees vary by faculty.
The joint site adds about $3,000 for a laptop, textbooks, uniforms, a mobile device and supplies. The application fee is $100.

Scholarships
The joint site says automatic entrance scholarships go to Canadian high school students based on admission average, if you apply and send transcripts by March 1. Application based awards are due March 15.
The U of R's automatic awards page lists an Out of Province Entrance Scholarship of $1,500 for an early admission average of 85% to 94.99%, if you apply for early admission by March 15. The two pages give different dates, March 1 and March 15. Use March 1 to be safe.

For parents
Nursing here is a set four year cohort with placements from the start. Your child must live in Regina or Saskatoon for the whole program. Budget for about $3,000 in program supplies on top of tuition.
The two schools' pages differ on where to apply, so confirm with U of R admissions before February 15. If you're comparing Saskatchewan options, read our USask nursing guide and our University of Regina guide.
