BA or BSc: which to pick
Laurier describes the BA as computing paired with an arts field, for students who like the social, creative or business side of technology. The BSc builds deeper technical skills, with topics like networks, cryptography and systems.
You pick Computer Science BA or BSc as your subject of major interest on the OUAC. You can also add a Management Minor as a program enhancement. Laurier lists Computer Science at its Milton campus too, so check which campus you select.
The Applicant Background Summary
Computer Science has no required supplementary application, interview or Casper test. After you apply, Laurier lets you strengthen your file with an optional Applicant Background Summary form. You can also send a personal statement if you had special circumstances.
For Fall 2027, both are due April 25, 2027.

Science co-op
Laurier's program page says you can apply to co-op in first year and may be invited to a co-op admission interview early in second year. You then complete three paid four-month work terms during the four-year degree. A separate Professional Experience Program offers a 12 to 16 month work term between third and fourth year.
Co-op entry is competitive. For fall 2026 co-op admission, Computer Science students needed a first-year GPA of 7.1 out of 12 to get an interview. Laurier's co-op page lists Computer Science and Data Science co-op pay at $865 to $1,026 a week and reports a 99% co-op employment rate in 2025-26. Co-op students pay co-op fees.

What you take in first year
BSc students take MA103 Calculus I, MA102 Introduction to Functions and Differential Calculus, MA123 Introductory Linear Algebra with Applications, CP104 Introduction to Programming and CP164 Data Structures I. BA students take the same core without MA102.
Laurier lists sample upper-year courses such as CP312 Algorithm Design and Analysis, CP363 Database I, CP372 Computer Networks and CP386 Operating Systems. The degree takes four years full time, and some courses are online.
First-year residence
Laurier guarantees residence on its Waterloo and Brantford campuses to undergraduates going to a postsecondary school for the first time. Your application and the non-refundable $600 deposit must be in by June 1, 2027. Applications open in early April and rooms are assigned by lottery. You can ask to live with a friend, or Laurier will try to match you with a roommate with similar habits.
For 2026-27, Waterloo dorm rooms cost $8,373 to $10,475 and single apartments $9,022 to $11,760.

For parents
Laurier Computer Science admits on grades, with a high 70s range for both degrees. Your child needs ENG4U and MHF4U, and the BSc adds one science or calculus course. No programming course is needed.
Co-op is not part of the first-year offer. Students apply in first year and need a strong first-year GPA, so steady marks in first year matter. Entrance scholarships are automatic, so there is no separate form for them. Budget for tuition, fees and residence, and check both tuition figures with Laurier.
