Laurier LORIS and MyLearningSpace: First-Year Course Registration

Laurier runs on two student systems. LORIS, the Laurier Online Registration and Information System at loris.wlu.ca, is where you register for courses and see your invoice and grades. MyLearningSpace, or MyLS, at mylearningspace.wlu.ca, is where your courses live day to day. For Fall 2026, first-year registration opened June 29 at 10 a.m. For Fall 2027, Laurier says first-year registration opens in mid-June 2027.

LORIS and MyLearningSpace do different jobs

You sign in to both with your Laurier username and password through single sign-on. Your Laurier email is your mylaurier.ca address, and that's where waitlist offers and residence news arrive.

Prepare your timetable before registration opens

Laurier's registration guide has four steps. First, check your first-year program requirements, listed by faculty and campus. The academic calendar wins if the two ever differ. Second, pick electives. Third, build a timetable in Visual Schedule Builder and write down the CRN, the course reference number, for every lecture, lab and tutorial.

Laurier says a typical full-time load is five courses per term, and you register for fall and winter together, starting with fall. On a Mac, Visual Schedule Builder only works in Safari. If multi-factor sign-in fails with the passwordless phone option, choose "Use your password instead".

Register in LORIS, step by step

In LORIS, choose Student Services, open the Registration Dashboard and select Register for Classes. Pick your term, open the Enter CRNs tab and type each CRN, adding boxes as you need them. Select Add to Summary, then Submit. Each lecture, lab and tutorial should show Registered.

You can swap a lab or tutorial without dropping the lecture. Add the new section from Find Classes, set the old one to Drop Course in the Summary, then submit both together.

  • Full course: join the waitlist if one exists. When a seat opens, Laurier emails your mylaurier.ca account and you have 24 hours to enrol in LORIS. Miss that window and you're removed.
  • Common errors are course load maximum, prerequisite not met and year level restriction. Clear those before you join a waitlist.
  • Blocked by a restriction? Ask your academic adviser or submit your faculty's override form.
  • You can't join a waitlist after the last day to add courses for that term.

Read section codes and delivery modes

Laurier uses six delivery modes: In-Person, Hyflex, In-Person Hybrid, Virtual Asynchronous, Virtual Hybrid and Virtual Synchronous. LORIS shows the mode on each course. The section code tells you both the campus and the format.

Campus sections are only open to students at that campus unless you get an override. Virtual sections are listed under the Virtual campus and open to students on any campus. Cross-registration at the University of Waterloo exists, but Laurier doesn't recommend it for first-years and it needs Dean's Office approval.
