Course requirements
The only named course for Ontario high school students is English, with a grade of at least 60%. There is no math or science requirement.
That makes your other five courses a free choice. Pick subjects you do well in, since they count toward your average. Laurier suggests first year electives like psychology and forensic science, so Grade 12 social sciences can help you get ready. Our course planner can help.

The average you need
Laurier lists an average admission range of mid 70s for Criminology. It does not give an exact cut-off, a past admitted average or an acceptance rate.
Laurier doesn't define mid 70s more exactly, so don't treat any single number as safe. Aim higher if you can, because Laurier's entrance scholarships start at 85%. Check where you stand with our Top 6 average calculator.

The Applicant Background Summary
There is no required supplementary application. Laurier invites every applicant to send the Applicant Background Summary (ABS) form after applying. It covers extracurricular involvement and personal achievements, and Laurier calls it optional but highly recommended.
For Fall 2027 entry, the ABS and any special circumstances statement are due April 25, 2027. Laurier suggests sending them within two weeks of applying.

Co-op
Criminology students may apply for co-op after first year through a competitive entry process. Laurier's criminology co-op page describes three four month work terms, starting in the fall of third year. The program page describes this as paid work terms lasting 12 months. Both add up to the same 12 months.
The sequence keeps you studying in the spring of second year, then alternates work and study through years three and four. The co-op office's main program list we checked does not name Criminology, so confirm the current entry process with Laurier before you count on it.

Hands-on learning without co-op
If you don't get into co-op, there are other ways to build experience. Laurier lists Community Service-Learning courses with work placements in the community, and a student research showcase called ACERS. The Criminology Students' Association runs an annual student conference and a public lecture series.
The Brantford campus has more than 2,400 students, with recreation at the Laurier Brantford YMCA and student services in One Market.

Law, MBA and MA pathways
Laurier lists three multi degree pathways. The law pathway pairs your Laurier BA with an LLB from the University of Sussex in the UK, in six years. You do your first two years at Brantford. Students who meet the progression rules are guaranteed an offer, with no LSAT.
The BA plus MBA pathway finishes with an MBA at the Waterloo campus, in six years. The BA plus MA in Criminology takes five years, and Laurier calls the MA new for fall 2027.

How it compares
Laurier asks for one course, English, and a mid 70s range. The trade off is that co-op is competitive and decided after first year, not at admission.

For parents
Your child applies once, to the Brantford campus, with no required supplement. The optional ABS form is worth doing. The main decisions come later: co-op after first year, and whether to use a law, MBA or MA pathway.
Careers Laurier lists include addictions counsellor, child protection worker, corrections officer, fraud investigator and policy analyst. Laurier notes that some of these need more training or education after the degree. Our Laurier admissions overview gives the wider picture.
